I didn't get to see Leigh Jenkinson play but if he did the same thing every time and it always worked, what's the problem? Cameron Stewart used to do the same thing every time and his form dropped when he started trying to be too clever cutting inside and stuff. It's definitely better than someone who's only trick is to not mark his man.
Leigh Jenkinson has no place on this thread. He was a decent larker and we sold him for I think £300,000. Transfers like that kept the club in business back then. Anyway, we got Richard Peacock in soon after. Now there was a winger. I loved tricky dicky.
****ing love that goal, I was sat right behind the goal and it was one of those that you knew was a screamer from the minute he hit it
Yes, Jenkinson had bags of pace. I suppose he wasn't that bad compared to the other crap on this thread. Didn't he have a decent career in Scotland ?
How many goals did Jenkinson score for us ? He had ability but he never used it. A one leg, one trick, lazy player who never put a tackle in. He was playing when Brian Horton got sacked, the 4.1 defeat against Swindon. Beresford was garbage as well by the way. I don't normally post on things like this, used to years ago. I thought it was all about opinons. Didn't take long before I got abuse from some clever sod. I think you should hang your head in shame
Didn't he get to the final of a sprinting contest on some Saturday morning football programme? The equivalent of Soccer AM. He might have even won it if memory serves me right.
Courtesy of wiki - Whilst at Hull, Jenkinson was reputed to be the fastest winger in the Football League and ran in the final eight of the Rumbelows Sprint Challenge, an ITV-organised sprint competition that was organised to test just who was the fastest.
Jason Harris - good call - shocking lack of ability with a football. But very quick though. Players like McShane are 1000 x better!
As discussed earlier on the thread I remember this well - he won his heats but came last in the final which was won by former postie John Williams 'sub editors dream with first class delivery etc etc'.
After watching that youtube clip above, a nice nostalgic clip of the North Stand at BP followed on..... sigh.
For me the worst player, it has to be Dave Bamber, I know he did pretty well at Blackpool but I remember as a young child dreading to see his name on the team sheet! And I can't remember what Mark Hately added to our squad either??
Thank you, someone else who thinks that Ken Blamange was ****e ....this thread comes up every so often of course (given our high percentage of crap players) but the winner can only ever be the excuse for a footballer that was Dave Bamber...decent for every other side he played in apart from City, cost us a fortune at the time (relatively) and was just utter utter gash rant over oh and Ian McParland ? he scored against Bradford to end our 17 game run without a win in 88 ish so must be excluded ps age is very clearly a factor here, no city fan in their 30s or 40s would class Gardner as ****e compared to what we have handed over cash to witness
