We also allegedly did try bringing in a centre back, although i do add allegedly. When everyone was fit he was behind Seaborne and Jaidi in the pecking order. With regards to the new contract as i have stated before i am pretty certain it was a clause in his previous contract that meant he had the option of renewing it.
Are you just trying to say everything possible to make him not wanted by the club ? He signed a new deal because he is a bright prospect. You must have been hit on the head with a hammer not to see that. He signed a new 3 year deal on top of the clause that was already in his contract so in fact it extended his contract further than what the clause would have.
Here's an idea, I know it may be alien to some fans, but how about we just back the players that are selected to play and represent the club instead of constantly bitching about them not being good enough.
Sorry to dash your hopes I wasn't joking, I would pick Aaron Martin over Chris Baird everytime to play CB.
The whole idea of a forum is too express your opinion, and in my opinion Aaron Martin is not good enough. I back the players fully whilst they are playing and then express my opinion on this forum. Just because somebody plays for Saints it doesn't mean they are England bound.
At what point does it become a hate mob. I have no personal issue with him and would like to see him succeed, but my opinion is that he's not good enough.
Yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but, the only opinion that counts ultimately is the manager of our club. Quote from his latest interview on the OS... "Jos won't be available for the weekend, but I must say that I thought José and Aaron Martin were outstanding the other night against Cardiff".
Feel free to express your opinion but do it with out vitriol towards other posters. There is no need...... As for your view on Martin yes he is a bit raw round the edges...he is young and he is learning his trade. He recently signed an extension to his contract and one of the main reasons for that offer was the fact that there were a few other teams sniffing around and were going to make various offers. He has a lot of potential if he carries on in the way he is going I too feel he has every chance of gaining international status. That though won't come until he has proved himself at the highest level which he has yet to do and will take at least 4 years in my book. Remember he was brought into the club by an experienced manager and has been confirmed by his replacement. Not bad for a lad that was playing non league a short while ago......
"They passed the ball out from the back very well and won their aerial challenges, especially in the first half when they were chucking those long throws into the box, so even when Jos is back he is going to have to fight to get back in the team, and that is what we want."
I have set up an excellent debate with this thread so i'd like to know why i'm getting such a negative feedback.
For the record, I too think he would be 5th choice were Jaidi and Seaborne available. It's good to back your players, and I back him fully now, but I don't see a massive future for the lad.
