Funny how people see things differently ... I remember Bennett having an absolute shocker of a debut and a few dodgy games to follow but turning it around and being quite handy by the time he left! Not counting the loanees like Rhodes and Bignall and others that have played the odd game at some point, Wotton would get my vote I'm afraid. Committed but truly talentless in my opinion.
I cannot believe somebody would genuinely think this. If he can't get selected ahead of Jos Hooiveld and Jose Fonte at the age of 22 how can you say he has the potential to be better then players such as michael svensson, Claus Lundekvam and Dean Richards. Deluded.
I agree. I don't really think he'll make it in the Premier League. I presume we'll still have Fonte and Hooiveld, and will have added one or two more. At 22 it's hard to see him improving THAT much.
Glad not all fans on here are as deluded to see someone like Aaron Martin being good enough for the Premiership.
But at his age he should be more then capable to remove Jos or Jose if hes a future England player as one poster said, or going to be better then Killer.
There are many examples of players starting their pro careers late and coming from the lower leagues and going on to become very good players, Stuart Pearce, Ian Wright and Kev Phillips to name just 3. Surely you cannot judge a player on the basis of only 14 games, Alan Pardew saw potential in him and Nigel Adkins does too, just because a player missed being signed at an early age does not mean they cannot make it at the highest level.
As much I don't rate Harding, he is so way off being our worst ever player since the Premiership. As I say every time that this topic pops up, the former Arsenal winger who's name has already been mentioned on here and played with us under the Dutch Duo gets my vote (I still refuse to ever write or say his name). I'm with the many others on here though that can't understand how someone jumps from thinking about Martin, to thinking about our worst ever post-Premiership player.
Key quote there is 'one poster'. We don't all think that he's going to be playing for England and equally we all don't hate him, like you. Jos and Fonte are a fair bit older and passing their matturity on to Martin and he is recieving heaps of praise from both players and coaching staff. I don't see any reason to doubt why he won't improve anymore.
So, I've been called an absolute prick and the post deleted? Good! Voicing my opinions I don't deserve to be called a prick, and personal insults just shouldnt be a part of the forum
If Adkins didn't rate him, he would not have been offered a new contract and would certainly be nowhere near the first team now, the fact that he never signed a CB permanently suggests that he is happy with his options in defence.
