OK another "fred for fun"

What is the worst sports related present you've ever had?

I had an old aunt who many moons ago knitted me a bobble hat, blue and pink for some reason..............

her reasoning "well he likes football and football fans wear bobble hats"

I was about 8 and she was about 80, she had athritis and it took her about six months so perhaps I'm being a bit ungrateful, but I'll never forgive my mother for making me wear it..........mind you the moment I was around the corner, off it came <ok>

An old female mate of mine was married to a Spanish guy for a few years who loved his football, her mother went on holiday to the Costa Del Somewhereorother, and picked up his birthday present whilst on holiday.

As a Real Madrid fanatic, he wasn't too happy to receive a Barca shirt, as a footnote he had a bonfire night party for the kids, Granny turned up and wasn't too happy to see the guy sat on top of the bonfire resplendent in a Barcelona shirt........she never spoke to him for about 18 months...........lucky bugger <ok>

When I started high school way back in 1971, I went to my mother & informed her that I'd need a football kit for the games lessons, telling her that I wanted, of course, a Cardiff City goalkeepers kit. So, off she went to Gilesports, who in those days were situated at the top of St Mary's St & corner of Chip Alley. When I got home from school she announced that she'd got me the kit & it was in a bag on my bed. I could hardly contain my excitement as I ran upstairs & saw the big bag lying there, waiting for me - my first proper football kit ever...!!
Imagine then, if you can, the feeling of utter amazement & disbelief at the sight that greeted me when I opened the bag - a Wolverhampton Wanderers kit - all orange & black & definitely not Cardiff City at all - not even a green goalies shirt!! She told me that she couldn't remember what I'd asked her for (WHAAAATTT!!!) & thought that the kit she got me 'looked nice'. Yeah, it did look nice - on the bonfire.

Think Mine would have to be a hat and scarf set the missus bought me...

She thought it was really nice as it was a Wales set.. problem is it is WRU

Don't get me wrong, I will support Wales in anything and I did wear the hat during the snow last year when walking to work but I'd have much preferred a blue one!
