Worst decision in the club's history? Do you know anything about our history? McMenemy as manager? Howard Wilkinson as manager? Brian Clough not given managers job? Peter Beardsley not worth ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã70K? Personally, I think selling Bent for some of the stupid money floating about in this transfer window, then keeping it to spend on our own terms over the summer is one of our best decisions. True that if Gyan gets injured tonight it might cost us a Euro place THIS season, but ultimately the money to spend in the summer will make us a stronger team next season and for years to come?
I'd get shot of that useless irishman as well while we're on, he's done **** all for us since he took over from Murray. Honestly, there's some right ****ing muppets on here at times, we've got the strongest squad we've ever had and this arsehole comes on saying we're doomed. Are you a barcode Marko1985?
If you go into town you will see a big green structure, it's the Wear Bridge, the railing on it is about 3'-6" high, i'm sure if you took a run at it you will be able to clear it.
I agree very risky. Not perhaps the worst decision but we may never be in a "6th at Xmas" position again for some time and you have to strike while the iron is hot. The type of high class player we re after now would come to the club if we were 6th and not if we were in bottom 6. I can see us missing out on Europe by a fraction like in the SKP days. Or worse a drift down towards bottom half. Hope I'm wrong!
I dont belive it! How can we have been brought to such a state of affairs. I mean the most clean sheets in the league shameful Sitting 6th in the league how bad can it get!!! In the last 18 months we have only signed 7 internationals and ponly 5 of them got to the quater finals of the world cup! I agree we are a complete and unter shambles the board have let us down. Really they should have gone out and spent ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã9 Million on the leading scorer from Washington Town FC, He has scored a load of goals and he is only 38 now that would have been money well spent.
Worst decision in my time was appointing Alan Brown in 1958. Within a season, an entire team of internationals had either left or retired. At the end of his first season, Brown took us out of the top division for the first time in our history. Five years later, he left to go to Wednesday. Under George Hardwick and Ian MacColl, we signed the great Jim Baxter, and climbed back up to tenth in the top division. At which point, they sacked MacColl AND BROUGHT BACK BROWN !!! At the end of that season, Jimmy Baxter had left and we were relegated from the top division for the second time in our history. By the time we got wise and sacked the dozey sod, we had crowds of 8,500 in a 54,000 stadium. Surely to god, one doze of Brown was enough. But to bring him back .....! That was the all-time worst decision for me.
Typical I can rememmber times worse the this, remember there are 10 outfield players and anyone can score, it is not just up tp the strikers
God your a drama queen. We have had far far worse decisions in the club's history. We are 6th in the table hopefully competing for a europa league spot. We have just signed 2 quality lads from Europe. We have 5 games between now and when wellbeck be back and hopefully campbell soon after. Bruce knows what he is doing. No point in paying way over the odds for strikers that are average at best very few available the likes of James Beattie ?? We can do without that panic buying. Sessegnon has played striker before and could fill in IF Gyan got injured. Big IF.
Alan kennedy getting signed by laurie the messiah, was at 1st game of that season and young winger knocked the ball past him and skinned him about 3 or 4 times in the 1st 20 mins, remeber people laughing around me at just how bad he was, was great player in his day but he was shot by the time we got him. Not backing Alan Durban with the cash when we had the side minus 1 or 2 players to be a top 6 club Thomas hauser Roly Milton marangoni to name but a few, we've come miles from then and although it would have been nice to sign a top striker none were around we could afford or attract so better to hang on for now, take stock, see who comes up in the summer etc haway the lads
I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve had counseling to try and forget about that skinny streak of piss, now you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve opened up the wounds again..... errrgh
Sorry economic ! By god, them were the days, weren't they? For anyone younger reading this, can you imagine 8,500 in Roker Park? It was like a morgue in there. There are more people on these boards today than there was watching them on match day by 1972.
