I was gonna mention Kurt Nogan and when you think we paid for him too LOL but i thought old Swinnky merited a slot of his own LOL
Steve Lynex , Vaughan Jones , Dave Carver (think hes beena coach at Newcastle for years) , Matin Goldsmith , Andy Saville , David Penney , Pat Heard , Lee Smelt .
Paul Wheeler, nice lad but AWFUL finisher..... A German bloke we had for one game if memory serves me correct (Shrewsbury away in LDV vans trophy I think), Mario Miethig or something like that.... Nogan has to up there... Simon Walton most certainly....
Gary Stevens, cant remember who but one of our players gave him a skudding for being shyte on the pitch.
Dave Carver played over 200 games for City. brilliant full back IMO. Back line was Carver, Murray, Harris, Bell. Takes me back to my youth.
DJR - I thought the same as you. Nothing wrong with Carver and that defence. Who replaced Harris? Was it Leighton Phillips?
Not 100% we had a few after Harris I think Phillips played mid-field eary on, there was that Irish bloke (Can't remember his name at the mo) he got undone when we played Everton DM made him look awful.
Albert Larmour? I think there was someone else as well. Leighton Phillips started in midfield but he then moved to centre back. From Wiki, "Phillips was used in positions all over the pitch, including playing as a striker and midfielder, before settling in defence as a sweeper, taking over the role following the departure of Brian Harris".
71/72 defenders Wiki Gary Bell David Carver Steve Derrett Ken Jones Richie Morgan Don Murray Freddie Pethard They also have Roger Hoy but he was MF
Steve Derrett was the one I couldn't remember. I'm pretty sure I played against him in the Cardiff and District League in the mid '80's.
Sorry chaps. My mistake. This is the player im on about John Carver. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Carver_(footballer) The other player was well before my time.
Paul Maddy and that Fat centre Half John Willimas? I think his name was dire, Paul Sugrue was another one
I was working with Paul Sugrue's daughter in the middle of last year. As for Went, it was late 70s when he joined DJ. No messing when him and Joe Dwyer were together at the back.
without a doubt it was Mel Charles, John Charles' brother. I saw this man stand on the pitch and take a comb out of his pocket and comb his hair in the middle of a match whilst the oppostion was attacking, because he was on the wing and defending wasn't his job. and he didn't do it just once either!!!!!
tony warren gk ,i think his name was used to close my eyes when long balls came in went to liverpool later lol
