Can't comment as I've never read them.

The LOTR was pretty poor, as was The Hobbit.

'The Last Don' by Mario Puzo was a terrible effort.

Now that's more like it Bealy - the TOWIE stuff and other assorted witterings from z list celebs is always going to be completely unreadable so it takes more effort to criticise Tolkien etc. Although i enjoyed the last Don it was nowhere near Puzo's best.

On th basis that you really have to nominate something you have read and you probably have to eliminate the obvious ****e I'll go with Saturday by Ian McEwen. I really like his books but this on is completely banal - seeks to pull a few real life events into a story and fails dismally in my view as it disintegrates into sentimental mush mixed with a shameless, and failed, attempt to capture the atmosphere of the time..

    Mark Hately's autobiography was hell.

"and.. er", "and..er" at every sentence was most annoying.

On The Road, boring as hell I don't get why it's considered a classic.
