I wish him well in filling a 300 seater, but if I'm having a chippy I'd rather take it home to eat. Can't see it lasting long.
"Mr Papas said: "It's going to be quite a big deal, hopefully, and people should be coming to the museum from miles around." I can't fault the bloke's enthusiasm, but I also can't see anyone crossing the road to go to a Museum of Fish and Chips, never mind coming from miles around.
Hopefully, but the article describes it as "a museum about the UK's favourite dish." Maybe they have some fossilised fish bones and petrified chips going back to Neanderthal times?
Gainsborough in its heyday was always very good and reasonably priced. They were able to fill three large floors with diners and often long queues formed to all levels.
it's time hull's chip shops opened on sundays. anyone know why other food emporiums can open on sundays but chip shops never do?
Reading this thread its no wonder so few people come and invest money in Hull. He's just trying to big up his project. He's hardly likely to say Hull's got the best chippies in the world but I'm going to open another one.....
It's not actually in Hull and other than the Carvers restaurant in the city centre(and posh fish restaurants like Cerrutti's), there aren't really any other fish and chip restaurants for him to compete with, he really didn't need to mention chippy's at all.
Brough Chippy is open on Sundays, really nice Asian guy, shouts " Wanna any Fiiisshhh " as everyone walks in
There is a takeaway being built where half of the Woody's bar used to be, I've sampled the fish and it's actually pretty good so at least that's something. As for the museum, I don't know why he's called it that. They're currently constructing a 'street', so that when you walk through the front door the entrance area will be lined with shop fronts which will have in them fishing memoribilia, fish and chip shop paraphenalia and a few quirky other things. I imagine it'll look a little something like the street life museum when it's finished, either way, it should be pretty decent.
Two questions... 1) Why in the name of Greek buggery are you going to 53 degrees North when Funky Fish is right around the corner? 2) Are you Vern's kid?
1 Funky has gone right down hill, owner got gready, and started dishing out crap , on the back of the good name he had built 2 no
