Scotland game obviously wasn’t that great but they won I guess .
The games are a bit late generally so been catching highlights.
All very long winded though .
A surprise visit by my German nephew made me break my resolution to not watch any games - and I ended up watching both the Scotland and Australia games. Just as well we were granted an extra bank holiday tomorrow - I'll need it to recover.
Didn't think Scotland deserved to win - and the Turks played Australia off the park but simply wasted all their possession.
Can't see Scotland getting any more joy in the rest of their group games - the Aussies may get some from Paraguay. But these two wins may strangely be enough to let them both progress to the next round.
Does anyone know if Irankunda's goal was the first World Cup goal by a Watford player? Can't think of any others.
Should add that I thought Australia's goalkeeper Patrick Beach had an outstanding game. 22 years old and this was his competitive debut - he must be over the moon. If he plays like that in the rest of their games, the offers from European clubs will flood in.

Agree Scotland won’t get much more and probably have to hope they will be one of the 8 best third place teams but a risk
Aussies seem to play on the break which will suit Irankunda probably more than our style of possession football .

Adam Drury mentions in the Observer that Gerry Armstrong scored in 1982 (against Spain) and Ismaila Sarr in 2022 (against Ecuador).
Irankunda was also awarded 'Man of the Match' against Turkey - even though he was substituted in the 61st minute.

A player can sometimes burst onto the world stage at a World cup earning a big move but it doesn't always work out,.
Nestroy is a good prospect with great pace but there is a reason why he with us and not exactly a regular either.
Hopefully young Nesty will pay more heed to his team mate Mohamed Toure: if he puts in the hard work and stays.grounded...Have been a fan of Postecoglu since his playing days, but I wish he'd keep his mouth shut.
I didn't think that Irankunda did much apart from score, which he did well. I was looking at how many times he had touched the ball when he scored. It was 3. Most of the time he didn't seem to be involved.
Beach was excellent, but he has been all season. He is a good goalkeeper and will probably head to the UK soon. His club, Melbourne City, are owned by Manchester City.
