Tough one to decide.

It is true, the chelsea youth do not get an opportunity at the club (bar christensen last year) but:

1. how many chelsea youth players have made it big since? none of them are pulling up any trees. Is that because we didn't give them the opportunity and they didn't develop or because they just were not good enough? (maybe a bit of both).

2. this is also true of most of the big clubs (in terms of youth). From your club, the young players to make it through and be big are Sterling and Trent. Can't think of many others.

Of recent years at chelsea of the top of my head:

- PVA - at palace, middling defender cannot defend
- Solanke - not achieved much so far with you
- Chalobah - injured but looked good with watford, was actually gutted he didn't get more chances as i think he's going to be a beast later
- Traore - At Lyon i think. Done okay but struggling to start
- Ake - would have liked more opportunities but struggled at Bournemouth last year
- Loftus Cheek - my fellow supporters love him, i think he's average. Hasn't done much at palace imo
- Ryan Bertrand - Should have kept, i think he's great
- Kalas - dunno
- Lewis Baker - with huddersfield?
Has looked an absolute star for Holland in the last few games and has made VvD look like a newby, best defender on the pitch every time for them.

So Southgate makes changes because he obviously doesn't see a victory today as vital, but playing the piss poor Sterling again?
Yeah he runs, yeah he drags defenders away, but his biggest assets are falling over and missing sitters, he couldn't trap a bag of cement.
Should have gave Rashford or Vardy or Wellbeck the start in the meaningless match.:bandit:

Sterling has been harshly criticised in this tournament. He has been wasteful and his decision making has been poor but he was literally the one player who troubled the opposition.

Can you define a 'asset please?

"Troubling" the opposition?

He's supposed to score or supply goals Jimmy, he's missed sitters galore and embarrassingly dived looking for penalties because he's lost possession.
He's gash, thank **** we got rid.

As much as I agree with your point here, I feel the need to say "at least he got into the positions to miss them"

But missing them means his positioning means nothing, positioning alone doesn't win games, this game should be a chance for the fringe players in the squad to get some game time before coming home.

PS, I don't like Sterling but my criticism of him is based on how **** his end product for England is.:emoticon-0105-wink:
