**** the knockout table and later stages of the competition... Who would we rather face next? Japan, Senegal or Colombia?

I'd rather Senegal go out so that Mane can rest and I'd rather we played Colombia out of the remaining two

dunno mate.

i dont think japan are any good really.

Columbia i thought looked decent.

senegal..... dunno... not really that good either

Jokes aside, does anyone here really think that England can win the world cup? Technically anyone entering the world cup can win it, but does England have a realistic chance? Has anyone seen something in the team to suggest they can?

It's a wide open world cup, with no real outstanding teams but very good teams with a good chance of winning. With that, can you see England challenge and beat these team in the KO stage and go all the way?

They have pace and confidence and all look pretty happy campers... it'll be if that mental strength holds up against the likes of a brazil because I've literally not seen an unbeatable team... all have significant flaws most teams left those flaws are at the back so..... why not?

look win it not a hope with walker stones and maguire.. one CM and then 4 forwards

England can't be written off REALLY even though i say that as the group was piss easy so far and england are untested. how can you fail the test if you've not been tested.

My view:

Portugal v Uruguay.. two unimpressive teams with good strikers. Portugal choudl be better side here

France V argies - france not very impressive in terms of system or tactics but team tlaent is massive. Argies are woeful

Brazil v Mexico - could be a shock if mexico play thier best game. Mexico lack real cutting edge imo but were brilliant chasing and harrying. Brazil have been slowly getting together. I don't thin kthey have been really tested but don't look quite right either.

Russia v Spain - Spain should hammer this lot... but they don't look like socring goals at times spain.... would need to be a massive bribe form here to prevent spain

Croatia v denmark - Croatia all day look really good

Sweden v switzerland - give a ****? switzerland for me are better, either could win.

England v?

Belgium v ? belgium look pretty good but again they have not been tested. they have played dross same as england.

Once we hit QF:

France v Portugal
and
Brazil v belgium

(if england have ANY sesne they will avoid this side of draw.)

then

Switzerland v england
and
Spain v croatia - can't call it.

then SFs:

anything could happen on the tough side of draw....

France v brazil? prob favourites but it could easily be totally different

England v spain.... Spain would be favourites.

Final? who knows..

for england to win it..

beat columbia, switzerland, spain then brazil

OR

beat columbia/senegal/japan, brazil then france and then meet spain or belgium in final?

Sorry but i keep thinking... walker... stones... maguire...

As you said England have only faced two easy opponents, which is not their fault. It's frankly hard to judge how our team is until they come up with a decent test. They aren't technically gifted but do have bags of pace. Will our defence hold up? will the heads drop if we are up against it? I don't know enough about them to make a decision, that's why i asked the question.

Don't get me wrong I've never understood why a hook tackle from behind is given as a foul outside the box but not inside but since the rule came in, I've not seen many refs give it as a foul and almost all pundits commentators say it's not a foul so.... based on that I would not consider that a penalty....
