Is it just me or is bookings a really stupid way to decide group placings?
Refs are so inconsistent with them and there's no way to appeal them, unless it's mistaken identity.

I was thinking the same thing. Way too subjective and also perhaps dependent on which ref you get, some of whom give cards more readily. The system would only be fair if yellows were awarded for exactly the same criteria, 100% of the time, regardless of the officials. Which obviously isn't going to happen.

He is correct.
Give me the blatant deceitful cheating of Drogba over
real cynical play any day.

If both teams had gone through by pulling an Austria v Germany, then it's a criminal offence. Japan, didn't need a win or draw but just had not to concede any further goals, had no interest in chasing the game and Poland didn't either as they were winning and going home. Typical end of season game. You see it every year, in every league.

Drogba's just a twat who didn't want to see Senegal go out. He's wrong and a hypocrite because he cheated every time he went on the pitch.

All teams today had the means to know what was required,
from KO to FT, in terms of goals and bookable offences, and
adjust their performance accordingly. There are inherent
risks for every team in trying to be that measured (fate can be
a harsh master) , but the risks were the same for all of them.

I do wonder though what Senegal have done to Poland though
before today. :)

Looking at the two groups about to play in the knockout part. It struck me that one group has most of the best teams while the other section has the weaker teams.
Doesn't this remind you of last season in the CL knockout part, when Real were in the strongest section and Liverpool were in the weaker section?

Imagine paying tons of money to see England v Belgium and turns out to be a Poch reserve type game. Pity the fans.

I was looking forward to Harry and Ali v Toby,Jan and Dembele…...now we will have to play them in the final!!!!!
