Pretty much the entire German squad looked p*ss poor so there's no need to single Özil out. If anything I thought he was better than quite a few of the team and still looked full of running at the end. I'm getting less and less impressed with Goetze as the WC goes on though, terrible.

I judge any tactics that involve making Per run too. I mean... what gives, do they know him? Per is great at many, many things but running isn't one of them! Still think Germany were good value for the win. Algeria gave it a good go but were eventually ground down. I think people are getting over-excited at the prospect of an underdog victory or maybe it's not wanting to give the Germans credit for anything. Not sure why everyone thinks France will walk the next game either as I thought they were w*nk for all but 15 minutes of the game.

I may be getting paranoid but it seems to me that Ozil & Mertersacker seemed to be getting all the criticism last night even though they were far from the worst German players.
 
Ozil gave the ball away far too much in the second half and extra time but so did Kroos and Schweinsteiger
 
Worst player on the pitch last night was Goetze. Been trash for a while now. I have no idea why he continually escapes criticism.

I think with them being Arsenal players, we will automatically be more interested in them and be critical. Saying that, the whole team struggled, but was in large part due to Algeria playing a really good game. Also I agree with Mihaela, Goetze was pretty poor and his Justin Beiber looks just annoy further.

I don't think it's paranoia as such but I don't think it's purely because they are Arsenal players, probably more because they play in England so our press and the pundits will focus on them. Ozil wasn't at his best last night but I don' think the Germany team is set up to get the most out of him. Firstly he is playing out wide and not as a number 10. Secondly, Germany for me do not have enough natural width in their side, too many CAMs, a problem I felt we have had a points last season.

There should have been 6-7 yellow cards already. This ref is Insaine.

Argentina could really use Pastore. Their midfield is non existant.

*still think they could win the competition. Despite playing this badly.
 
I don't really want Switzerland in the next round, they make McLeish's Birmingham look exciting
