Its not the lackluster attack that might get the odd goal and blag their way thru ,

    Its the SH1T defence .

    Just SH1T

Hart is fine. England need new CBs. Cole and Gibbs must be laughing their asses off back in london because Baines was just poor. And RB wise, I'm not joking when I say Carl Jenkinson would do a better job defensively than Glen Johnson
It's not just the defense though. It's the mentality and style of play as well as a Woy not having the courage to adapt the tactics

    i agree with Shearer .

"As long as we continue to defend as we did tonight and against Italy then we'll struggle to progress.
I didn't see many positives in that performance.
"Rooney's first World Cup goal perhaps but there weren't big performances from our big players.
Raheem Sterling didn't really turn up, Sturridge struggled at times but the huge concern was the way we defended for the goals conceded."

England cannot play at a high tempo with quality. It's alright saying there's passion but it is frantic. There is no slick play, just panic, blood and thunder.

Johnson has to go. Likewise Gerrard and Lampard, their day is over.

Next internationals after the WC, I'd go with something like:

    Hart
Flanagan / Walker / Jenks (any one of them could claim the England RB spot) Jones/Smalling (lacking decent CB's!) Cahill Baines (Shaw needs to be eased in)
    No idea for DM
    Barkley Rooney
    Theo Sturridge Sterling

Ox and Wilshere are available if required. There's a HUGE lack of depth to England at the moment. I'm excited about Barkley and Sterling, and Sturridge looks a very decent striker, but now, suddenly, it's the back of the team that's falling apart.

England's problems are massive and very deep.

It will take decades for things to change because the average fan, coach and parent, doesn't realize how technical the game has become. We cant train that 1% of players that have the skill to play at the top level while the other 99% are busy getting stuck into them, playing a good hard English game, just playing kick-ball.

Lets face it, England's players took 3 touches to control every ball and couldn't play at the speed required in the game. Their basic skill was inadequate; simple passes were missed, balls were received badly and positional errors made all over the pitch.

    80% of England's squad wouldn't get into Mexico's team, or Colombia's, or Uraguay's.

Until attitudes change, the situation will only get worse.

Positive steps have been made by certain English clubs, the obvious ones that spring to mind are Arsenal and Southampton that focus on technical skill such as passing etc. But I take your point, unless a Wenger type person is brought in to change things at grass levels, we will continue to have these issues.

    It wasn't that bad though.

I personally think.. Brazil and Belgium have played to a lower standard than England but both are topping their groups.

On another day England could quite easily qualified now with maximum points but I honestly think they have a bright future with so many good youngsters in the squad & team e.g.Stirling,Sturridge,Ox,Wilshere,Shaw etc.
I honestly don't think England have had such a talented squad for a long while.

That's it then. Look what happens when you put pressure on the ball. Well done Costa Rica.

I'm supporting Italy, because i was supporting Italy anyway. Shame we lost, but sending England packing makes up for it. All we have to do now is beat Bitey and his pals.
