Football (or soccer as we call it) has had a bit of a chequered history in Oz. From the highs of beating England and getting through to the World Cup (only to be CHEATED out of it by the wops) to the current lows when no-one goes to watch games and players perform in almost empty stadia. Now we have a billionaire who wants to start a (cricket-like) Soccer World Series. He has the wedge alright, but is openly anti-soccer saying it is a stupid game and that Rugby League is much better and, to be honest, he's probably right in this country. What are your opinions? Would you want some-one with more money than soccer sense running the game in the UK? How about, for example, a ten player a side game that runs for three twenty minute stanzas, no off-side rule (a la the yanks a few years back) and a ref that stops the game every time the whistle blows so that he can explain to the crowd whay the whistle was blown in the first place. Thoughts..........
