Then, in turn, invite those from places which didn’t qualify for the finals, have no wins so far, have one win and a loss, one win and a draw to take their seats, leaving representatives of those countries with two wins still standing, which by my calculation willl be the two Englishmen in the room and a French lady. Then I will yell ‘the old order is restored, back to the 19th century when everything was good!’. I think this is a pretty inclusive and spiritual way to kick off the day. If we lose today I’m not turning up at all, I have a few colleagues who will be merciless.
BTW, he also thought the German tackle was NOT a penalty for Sweden. This seems to show a clear disconnect between the ordinary fans perception of “fair” and the “official” interpretation. For me the Korean handball was “unintentional” despite the obvious unnatural position handball, whilst the German foul on the Swedish player “deliberate and cynical”.
