Very pleased for the lads and Southgate. Exciting first half, ridiculous penalty, useless ref, great resilience and Captain Kool keeps (and uses) his head. What's not to love?!
Just like to say that, when the winner went in me and the lad went totally berserk, running around the room like we were possessed. Only the first game!!
Well done England, good result could so easily have been held to a draw. Better team on the night won.
ME too...completely lost it...simply because we did actually deserve to win that one.. Not because we were England...No.... ..because we played the better football, because we wanted it more and because we were the better team Get in there England
That was a partly very good performance from England. Between 45-70 minutes it looked like Redknapps QPR were playing one of their away match, but thankfully Kane got England the reward which they more than deserved. The Ref was more like wrestling official and VAR team were blind like Ray Charles at nights. Kane was supeb finisher and should had have earned a penalty or two. England should have two or three changes however for the Panama match. Young, Lingord.and Sterling out and Rose, Dyer and Rashford in.
England played well considering they're a young and relatively inexperienced side. ( Did I hear somewhere that the squad has the least international caps than any other team in this tournament? ) The first half was very good and had they shown a bit more composure in front of goal the game would've been over at half time. The second half dwindled a bit on occasions due to the Tunisians changing their shape and sitting in to try and hold on for the draw. But England kept at it and didn't resort to route one and still tried to play football and kept control of the game. This was refreshing especially when you compare it to our last tournament game against Iceland when that team were hapless of ideas and froze when they needed to find a goal. Perhaps this side won't be good enough to make the latter stages of the tournament but I like what Southgate is trying to do and with a little luck, who knows?
Absolutely. I think this team can mix it a bit, attack with neat fast passing in numbers, and if required break on the counter quickly. What it might lack is composure, and that’s down to experience. They are likely to have dodgy patches in every game and will have to learn fast when they are put under pressure by good players. But it was very refreshing to see them trying to play football and sticking to it. Nice one Gareth.
Some of our football in the first 20 was hopefully a glimpse of our potential. I've not seen loads of this World Cup yet, but loved some of the football Spain played. We were as good as them in the first 20, and perhaps more threatening. Southgate seems calm, positive, nurturing and intelligent. That late goal was huge for us. I like what I saw.
Special mention for Trippier, who I thought was superb and much better than I thought he could be at that level.
Poor except first 20 odd minutes when the game should have been over, after that it was the same old England again, but the win matters the most.
Maguire actually made both goals... He is obviously very important in the attacking options...I think he is better option than Cahill Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
