It does make you wonder if the millionaires can be bothered. There is no sign of hunger in our performances which is not a surprise is it.
 
The only way we are likely to qualify for anything soon is as hosts. So we better start kissing some perverbial and greasing a few bent UEFA and FIFA cronies palms
 
What vaguely decent outfield team can we get from :

Shaw, Smalling, Jones,
Wilshere, Henderson, Sterling, Barkley,
Welbeck, Sturridge

As many as possible of the above please for the Costa Rica game,
 
England rugby team have been measuring up to the All Blacks.
Tour de France (if one/both of Froome/Wiggins can stay upright for 3 weeks) .

I,ve been watching Wilshire,and think he is overated,doesn't seem to have progressed
 
personally I can't be bothered to watch England any more or buy their over priced merchandise...
and with Woy looking as if he is going to stay as 'manager' I will be applying for citizenship of Andorra. They play better football
 
The difference this WC is none of us are hugely disappointed as we had no expectations.

Spurs of course are a different matter.

Harsh, but Andorra could be fun if you have a head for heights.
 
Obviously the team we should be supporting White shirts, Blue shorts, a Cockerel on the shirt and Lloris in goal.

3 up at half time, now there's luxury.
 
France is like a Spurs tribute band. In navy they look like France to me, but in white they simply look so much like Spurs that I can't not root for them.

I'd like Spurs to have the exact same kit with our more stylish cockerel, incidentally. Very simple, very nice.

Uruguay pressured England as much as they could breaking up our play very effectively, much as Colombia did to The Ivory Coast, and Mexico did to Brazil. Simple physical force has been the ruling of thus WC so far, with the exceptions of Germany, Holland and Belguim many a technical team has lost to this.

England reminded me very much of Spurs, plenty of talent but no bite or control.

One recipe for failure which Spurs and England share is to try to play attacking football without being very good at it. It happens to be very much like trying to dictate play in tennis. You're giving yourself a smaller margin of error, and it's a recipe for underperforming if you have key weaknesses. Spending the game with your defenders much farther from the goal than the other team makes it much more likely the other team will get attacking players in on a lightly defended keeper. The heat should also favor sitting back, as it will sap the energy an attacking team need to keep the other team penned up in their end. You will have more chances, but the other team having much better chances will make it a bad gamble unless you can slice open a settled defense.

You choose not to see the quality. Costa Rica fully deserved both wins over Uruguay & italy while England and all there "technical" players believed they had their best performance in 15 years in a 2-1 defeat (against Italy), that tells you everything about the mentality of people associated with the English team and the lack of quality we have.
