Perfectly, I assume you don't know the rule, the whole of the ball has to be over the whole of the line, is that the case there?

Wrong yet again, its a German system and has been mentioned several times by the commentary.

    Its called goal control.

You added that picture after you originally posted, one picture doesn't give a definitive position on whether it's over...

It's based on the hawk eye system.
You can just never accept being wrong.

I'd be up for one of those after all this debating - here in Canada we don't have real White's lemonade for say a Pimms mix, we only have 7-Up etc. which has a different flavour.

Lots more countries to come - the world is your oyster! Attempting to maintain Nines' tradition.

What does everyone think about having a single continuous thread for ALL World Cup matches played, as opposed to individual threads?

Anyone else feel free to jump in here with additional match day content - I imagine that Nines will likely do "proper" match day threads for the England games - I just tried to pick up the mantle for a few of the weekend games.

During the week it looks like the kick off times in AST Canada (mostly same time zone as Brazil) are 1:00pm, 4:00pm and 7:00pm, so normally I'll be at work for the first two matches each day. Will try and take late lunches to catch the 1st half of the 1:00pm ko's.

I do agree with Flyer on that one Col, I'm pretty sure they went for another system and NOT hawkeye.

But it's like most vacuum cleaners are refered to as 'Hoovers'....even when they are not.

Because I'm 100% right. Just admit its not Hawkeye, that's like trying to say the match all is a Nike because the adidas one is the same size

    France 2-0 Honduras

A reminder that this is the first time goal-line technology has been used at a World Cup with the German-manufactured GoalControl system being used to assist referees in Brazil

It is similar to hawk eye and worked perfectly.

I bet you live on your own don't you?

They were knocking R Whites 2litre bottles out for 60p at Waitrose in Sheffield last Thursday. Goes well with most Vermouth based drinks with ice & a slice.

Miss Honduras looks high maintenance, I like that in a woman.

Yes I like your idea of a single WC match thread, otherwise with Rollers neverending competitions it will end up being v confusing. I looked at the NOT606 Hull page, they seem to be running a NSFW match thread for each game. Risqué.

I never denied its similar, I just stated it wasn't Hawkeye.

I've never seen Hawkeye get anything wrong either and tennis usually has a lot lot more judgements.

I personally prefer individual match threads. That way everything pertaining to a particular game is self contained. It's also useful when you have any contentious issues such as in this game. But it's your board, you can do what you like... within reason of course. <cool>

From that angle it looks completely over the line. It was just Jonathon Pearce being dopey

It was very close. I'd like there to be a precise figure for the distance a ball's supposed to have crossed the line, accompanying the hawkeye simulation.

So that way you can put those issues to bed by starting a new thread?

I'm going to join Wubba with a drink and have a few leftovers for supper (wife away).

I've really just been a pretender to the real article with these quickies - Nines would you like to do up a "proper" Argentina v Bosnia match day thread? I don't object to seeking out the ladies to accompany them, which is a rather easy enjoyable task, so long as I don't get caught in the act by my three daughters at home!

And that is from an unsympathetic angle, unlike the BBC pictures...
