Nah, wouldn't saddle him with the country's biggest family of scroungers, unless he changes his name to Royal Hadron Collider.<whistle>

World Cup 2014 draw: England told they are not wanted in the Amazon

Mayor of Manaus hits back at Hodgson's suggestion that he would rather not play in tropical city.

The Mayor of Manaus said he hoped England do not play in the Amazonian city after Roy Hodgson expressed fears over having to travel there after the draw is made.

Hodgson’s main concern is over the likely high temperatures and humidity in Manaus, which lies at the heart of the Brazilian rainforest.
Arthur Virgilio Neto retorted: “We Amazonians also prefer that England do not come. We hope a better national side comes, with more football and a more sensitive, cultured and educated coach. Here is one of the few people in the world who isn’t curious about the Amazon and doesn’t dream of knowing Manaus.”
Neto noted how Brazil had won more World Cups than any nation, and was content to play in any location regardless of the climate. “This should be the spirit of all and every national side that intends to win. I spent my youth competing in sport. When I won, I won. When I lost, I didn’t blame the weather or my coach. If I slept badly or well, this didn’t interest anyone. Excuses show a lack of self-esteem and self-confidence.
Manaus is situated right on the Amazon
“Luckily, the English people are different from Mr Hodgson. They are educated and appreciate beauty. There is nothing more beautiful and exciting than the Amazon rainforest, the state of Amazonas and Manaus.”
Meanwhile, Sepp Blatter admitted Fifa was praying for World Cup stadiums to be finished on time after revealing the venue for the opening game would not be ready until mid-April.
The Fifa president claimed he was powerless to deal with the construction delays that have dogged preparations for next summer’s tournament in Brazil and could result in half the grounds not meeting this month’s deadline for completion.
He announced that Sao Paulo’s Arena Corinthians, scheduled to stage the World Cup’s big kick-off on June 12, would not open until April 14 at the earliest and declared there was no Plan B if it failed to do so. A police investigation is still under way into what caused a crane to crash into the stadium and kill two construction workers just over a week ago.
It was the third time in as many days that Fifa officials had been forced to revise their estimates on when all 12 stadiums would be ready, having first suggested February and then March before Blatter’s latest revelation.
Fifa’s executive committee meeting also saw Blatter give short shrift to Uefa president Michel Platini’s suggestion that yellow cards should be replaced by a rugby-style sin bin.
And Fifa general secretary Jérôme Valcke insisted it was his idea — not Platini’s — for a random draw to be an option to decide which European team would be placed in Pot Two in the World Cup draw.

Don't have a problem with Woy saying her rather play in a climate that suits English players more.

Think this guys gone massively over the top. They've not come for a holiday so will hardly be wanting to play in the Anazon so they can sight see!

    A Tale Of Two Rio's

Just read that BBC Salford have chosen Rio Ferdinand as a pundit for the World Cup, England's defence better not put a foot wrong or Rio's "I should be there instead of him" will echo around the studio.

Its all about the two Rio's dontcha know.

    What a little bitch!

It's quite obvious he's not slagging the place off - it just wouldn't be idea conditions for footballers.
