I'm too young for those you mentioned (only saw the latter end of Maradona) but Messi is without doubt the greatest player I've had to god fortune of seeing.

Would be great to see what those players you mentioned could do with modern technology though
Pele in '70 was the first WC I remember (I was 9). I even remember the music for BBC, and for ITV. Then the Dutch in '74 (the best team not to win it, apart from Brazil in '82, maybe - or the French that year, but even we beat them in the opening game). The thing about that Brazil '70 team, though, was that it was 9 megastars and a supernova. The goalie was pathetic, but he barely got tested. The Dutch team was Cruyff, the Argie teams after '78 were Maradona or Messi, and the Hungarian team mt dad raved about in the 50s was Puskas. The French teams in the 80s were Platini (though Tiggana, Tresor, and Giresse were magnificent).

Think they gave offside in the end. Hence no VAR

Fecking dreadful game, Ghana parking the bus and England playing for set pieces.

Also whats the point in Gordon, Barca have been well mugged off with that one.
The offside was AFTER the Konsa Kung Fu attack. Attrocious VAR. Can understand the ref missing it, but that VAR operator must have been trained by Darren England.

Not sure about that. Ghana have been extremely 'agricultural' as we say.
That was an absolute stonewall pen. And the Pickford incident was extremely lucky. Ghana may well have been roughhouse (they're big lads, after all, so using their strengths in more ways than one), but that doesn't excuse one of the most blatant pens never given in WC history. It's up there with the Maradona handball - but they didn't have VAR back in '86. Attrocious officiating.
