The sad thing is it will probably end up back there a few world cups later

A confederation can't host a World Cup in the two cycles after they hosted it. As Africa, South America and Europe all host the next one, that means it has to be in Asia in 2034 and then North America/Oceania are the only confederations able to host in 2038.
Australia are now in Asia, so unless its New Zealand in 2038 (which it won't be), it'll be North America again...so unless Mexico or Canada want to go it alone it's probably going to be the US.
EDIT: Forgot Saudi Arabia already have 2034.
I don't think they are fully counting the 3 games in South America as full hosting .
They would need to seriously get their act together though and would probably be Brazil,Argentina,Chile and maybe Urugsuy together

If you're talking about the 3 games being the Mexico hosted ones, Mexico is in Concacaf not Conmebol. Concacaf is North and Central America and the Caribbean.
It's 3 venues in Mexico not 3 games in total. His main point though was that all 3 hosts are in CONCACAF.
