It was a penalty, clumsy by the defender and Ronaldo got to the ball first. Var looked at it and agreed with the ref and the ex ref Peter Walton also thought it was a penalty too.

Reactions: Diego
Why? One was a deliberate push which is quite clearly a free kick. The other was a tackle where both players kicked the ball and each other more or less simultaneously.
No, in both instances, both players are challenging for the ball and the offending player leans into the other causing them to go down. For the penalty, Ronaldo gets there first and Salisu’s thigh makes contact with him.

When playing a team like Portugal the accurate measuring of added time is important.:emoticon-0102-bigsm

The pressure is now heaped on Korea and Uruguay in group G

Great game that, if only the Ghana player never slipped when he stalked the keeper from behind at the end.

Speaking of the keeper, Costa was awful, he’s been someone a lot of our fans on social media want to replace Lloris… on that showing, we should definitely move for Robert Sanchez! <laugh>

Two suggestions for Portugal's next game

i.) Somebody should give one of their players a wedgie to see if anybody would even notice with their PES-inspired kit design
ii.) How about the director cut to shots of Jeffrey Epstein every thirty seconds instead?
