Surely there is no way that a) this tournament can go ahead, or b) that England can participate under the current circumstances...
 
I think your wrong on both counts - not that I don't agree with your concerns about the situation - I just think that things will settle down between us and Russia over the coming months. However, not to trivialise the situation in Syria, where there is an awful situation, but in footballing terms, it will make for a fascinating World Cup, with England playing on what is quickly becoming hostile enemy territory.

If anything positive could come of this situation at all, it maybe that southgate's team talks are already done and the players will be focused on representing their country with some pride and passion, not moaning about whether they are sufficiently loved by the fans. I won't hold my breath though...

Its nowt to worry about. Russia and the USA have each other by the short and curly wurlys. It's painful for them, but neither side will dare.
