Another totally class goal from Costa. The style of goals he's scoring, I didn't think he was capable of. He's looking fantastic this tournament.
Especially when he went down clutching his leg because Costa got within ten yards of him. Iran players could all give Tom Daley a run for his money! #cheatingdivingbastards
You mean when Costa reached back and tried to step on his foot? We know Costa likes to irritate opponents. Beiranvand was just giving some back.
Russia and Croatia the most impressive sides so far, none of the big sides have really clicked yet. I'd like to see Croatia go far. Argentina must surely be out though? Iceland will surely beat Nigeria, leaving Argentina needing a 4+ goal swing in the last games.
Messi - Argentina's answer to John Barnes The two Argentina games in this WC are the only games I have seen him play for his country (or not as the has been the case) - He has been pathetic, possibly worse than Barnes ever was for England Not that he is alone in that squad. Their qualification for the WC was a struggle and they only managed 19 goals in 18 games. Clearly there are some problems with the rest of them too
Also the manager and Messi both walked straight off the pitch and down the tunnel with no shaking hands or any acknowledgement of any kind. No matter what you may think of Ronaldo he would never do such a crass and ungentlemanly thing
I've thought it for a number of years, Ronaldo is clearly a better player. Ronaldo can and has made teams great that without him would be pretty average. Messi can only make a great team look greater. It hasn't just been this world cup, he really has failed to turn up in the previous ones. His Argentina performances make a mockery of any claims to be the greatest player ever. He's not even the best Argie! Barcelona of the last 10 years, were perhaps the greatest club team ever for a seriously sustained period, he was undoubtedly a part of that, but they would have been great without him, look at the Spanish national side. He is not the messiah, more a cherry on top! Bah!
So Tunisia get a 'soft' penalty, but it seems that 'wrestling' in the penalty area is allowed!! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44581546 Edit - So fans are heading to the pubs to watch games - 'The Murderers already has 60 football fans pre-booked for breakfast on Sunday morning at 10am ahead of England’s game against Panama. Mr Cutter said the international event is “absolutely fantastic” for business.'
Lakuku was an absolute beast for Belgium today, albeit against a fragile Tunisia defence. Looks to be getting better every season. It's going to be an interesting game for England next week.
