England's opening goal after 24 seconds against France in 1982. I was 12 and went a bit nuts with excitement and ended up trapping my fingers in the wrong side of the door frame. I literally went from joy to tears in seconds.

<laugh> Sorry I shouldn't laugh as trapping your fingers hurts like hell at any age let alone when you're 12 but I couldn't help it.

As moments go it has to be Platt vs Belgium. I was 8 when this happened and I still don't think it's been topped.

That goal cost me a girlfriend.

Last night of holiday in Majorca. Girlfriend all dressed up for dinner and me in England shirt and Union Jack shorts (I know!). Anyway, local restaurant where we'd eaten a few times and I had organised with waiter to put a telly in front of our table. Watch first half while eating dinner and then dash back to bar at our apartment block. Platt scores and I then lead a conga through the restaurant and into the pool. Girlfriend stomps off to bed and dumps me when we land back home.

Not sure what went wrong really.

Shaw is starting, we can still be excited about that right?

Sounds like he is going to play Rooney & Lambert together. I actually think this could work pretty well

Apparently Dzecko is 66/1 to be top goalscorer. Surely that's worth a punt. Who do people think will finish with the golden boot?

I'm going to bet on Fred. Can't see Bosnia getting far enough for Dzeko to rack up more than 3 or 4 goals. Might put a couple of quid on someone with mad odds, like Shola Ameobi at 1000/1.

Unless some-one gets a hat trick you need a player to get to the 1/4's at least to have a chance. Cant see outside the top few in the betting tbh.

I reckon they'll get 2nd, which means they'd go on to play probably one of Switzerland or France. Got 15 quid on it which returns 1005.

Van Persie worth looking at at 33-1. As is Lukaku at 33. Sturridge and Hazard at 50 too.....

Don't think Belgium will go far enough for Lukaku.
