I don't suppose it has escaped anyone's notice that potentially Dani, Gaston, Adam, Rickie [probably not Jay] will be in the same group.
The two teams I have any leanings towards are also together, England and Italy. At least one of those should emerge from the group.

EDIT: Why do I have to make two points in one post, and therefore get pipped by our resident stringer..?

Not too fussed about the group, could have been easier, but could also have been tougher.

The first match is usually a draw, and we drew against Italy at the Euros. I'd expect us to beat Costa Rica, so it's whether we can get anything against Uruguay as to whether we get through or not.

Uruguay aren't that good. Suarez is...but the rest of them not so much. Poor defense and midfield.

The last team England played in an international competition? Italy. The next team England will play in an international competition? Italy.

That draw was as dull as the football will be next summer.

A great many Australians just cancelled their 'just in case' hotel reservations for the 28th June - 1st July.

It would have been a bit of fun had they cocked it up. The guy with the crutches was doing his level best to do so, first selecting the wrong pot, then another time dropping a ball. Sadly, the rather capable French presenter was onto it like a flash. :)

Who reckons Suarez will get an unfortunate end of season injury in the Prem League after he is destroyed by Gareth Barry/Ryan Shawcross tackle!

Uruguay are one of the weaker seeds shame about them having Suarez. Also at least Italy are our opponents in the first humid game & will have similar problems. If we could get out of the group a second round tie would not be against anyone too horrendous! But that is an if!

Roy Hodgson says England will remain in their base in Rio De Janeiro.

"No point moving the camp north due to one game".

Says the squad will travel up to Manaus two/three days before the opening game.

To be fair, that mayor is being rather oversensitive, considering Hodgson's comments were entirely in the context of how difficult it will be to play there.

Didn't think I'd see anyone taking the mayor's side. He's clearly a nutjob.
