Now I won't pretend I know the family of the victims, nor will I pretend that I've gone out of my way to pay my respects...

But...Thank You...for you have shown class like I haven't seen since EFC paid tribute to Hillsborough victims.

Since a boy I have felt a hatred towards Sunderland fans. The two 0-3 defeats left me feeling like I wanted to give up on football. I wanted nothing more than to see you go down last season.

This however has changed my footballing mind and has made me think of Sunderland as a classy city who put differences aside and are big enough to forget football and admit what really matters.

I am nothing to SAFC and this may mean nothing...I have been quick to mock you when times have been rough, but now all I have is thanks....world class fans. Fans who bleed football. Fans who know what football is. Brothers in arms.
 
These were two normal north east lads who had families, just like we all do. Nobody should ever go to a football match and never return. Football should rightly take a back seat while these guys are remembered.

we all love our football here in the NE

do you know the thing that gets me the most, correct me if i'm wrong mind, but i read that in 50 years one of the fellas missed only 1 match at academy, reserve and 1st team level, home and away in FIFTY years.

that ^ is the heart and soul, not just at club level but football ^

At times like this we need to forget about football and realise there are more important things in life than puerile rivalries. My son in law supports Newcastle and I love him dearly, I take the piss when possible and so does he, but football rivalry is insignificant when reality comes knocking at our door.

RIP John and Liam, my prayers go to both of you and your families

Peel off the club shirts and we're all just human fella. No thanks necessary, our respect and condolences are the very least we can show. Thank you for the kind words.
