#16 for my opinion re PL. I don't think you'd disagree there. Ibra is getting the votes even at 32, so no worries for you there. My concern with him as that he's past his best atm. Certainly World Class for the last ten years, 2014 excepted. (French league is a relative snooze too) Alves - No one else has brought him up for World Class, ditto Ribery and Pique. Vidal - was brought up only once, as well as Busquets. We don't have to force the label just because we don't have a DM in the list, y'know.
Hence why I mentioned Ribery being in Ballon d'or shortlist! Whether someone put his name up or not, he was considered one of the top three players in the world. hard to argue that. Again, we all have varying ideas on all of this, you put Robben up there, I think players like Pedro and Di Maria are better, but that is my view on the style of player. Busquets has been in the fifa 11 for like 4 years straight lol. Not saying you have to have a DM but he basically kicked Yaya out the door and the rest is history. Why has no one mentioned Moses though???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Africa honoured Moses and Mikel, just like Europe honoured Ribery. And neither of them were mentioned before or shall be mentioned after. Ribery is a good player, nothing special imo. Whereas I and several others see signs of genius and genuine threat in Robben's elusive movements. Yaya btw kicked himself out of the door by wanting to do the job of two in midfield.
I was joking about Moses! Not that that crazy about Ribery, but just saying, he was on the 3 man shortlist! No one can compare to Michael Bradley though.
I know you were, that's why I taunted Ribery with the Moses parallel. So what he was on the 3 man short-list! Firstly, they voted on MVP for a particular year, not on WC atm. Secondly, this is not606 democracy, therefore OUR vote decides World Class. Can't argue with democracy once you accept the principle .
I'm sorry this si where another poster would call you a name and be quite disparaging. However all i can say is if the criteria for world class = can he hack it in england. then the whole thing is pointless... simply put has messi or iniesta, two of the 4 "locks" ever done so. lahm for germand and for bayern in the CL is the closest thing to maldini i've seen in 20 years. nobody else comes close. lahm is truely world class. schweinsteiger is merely great, but not world class... how can you rate on depsite his poor league yet not the very best player they've got (outfield)
This isnt a complete list obviously. I knew that when Messi and Ronaldo were not on it. Would you all vote suarez? If so why? Hes having a brilliant season but so is costa and you dont consider him world class. #spannerintheworks
I didnt want to pick silva either. World clasd If hes world class, everyones world class. Half season winder and nothing more. Toure is player who is good one season and poor the next. Seems to take a year to get back to his best.
read back old son. robbie savage started the debate putting suarez in a 3 with the obvious two and nobody else so this all developed from there to round out a top 10.
But suarez isnt. Hes world class this season but its just one season. If suarez is then costa has to be Infact costa more so as he plays at a higher level. Both fall into the world class form catagory. It cannot be argued that they are having world class seasons. Same can be said of Sturridge. Also robbie savage ffs. His opinions as respected as bartons. Not at all.
Despite claiming it takes more than one season to be world class, you're still ignoring last season when it comes to Suarez then UIR?
Not at all but for me the attitude of the player is also important. Its not all about skills and goals and for me, Suarez let himself down as well as his club with his antics last season. This season hes grown up (except your bad patch of course where his diving and cheating returned, doesnt seem to like pressure) so lets see how he goes. However if you asked me last season if he was world class, taking everything into account... I would have laughed. Like I said, this season he has been but before that? Nope. Did you consider him world class last season? Or a liability?
I constantly argued that he wasn't world class last season but for the same reason as your claiming now; he hadn't done it over a long period of time. However he's not only continued that excellent form, he's got better! Your using the attitude argument but for me, thats irrelevant when judging how good a player they are. It just makes a ****.
Attitude is everything. Quite possibly the most importnat factor in whether someone is world class. How many players have all the ability but lack the mental side of things or have poor attitudes? On and off the pitch of course.
Suarez as a superb attitude on the pitch. He wants to win and that drive is still if were 4-0 up, he still gets annoyed if things don't go right. Obviously had discipline issue but as you've already said, hes been much better this season. IMO hes been seeing a mentality coach or something since the bite. Rooney has temper issues too. Just chooses to elbow and kick rather than bite That aggression attitude is what makes them the players they are
The thing here is everyones opinion on what constitutes world class. Some are thinking only about now with exceptions made for players they often hear being referred to as world class. Others are picking players on name. Large quantities of bias in some choices. Some are based on potential. Some are just stupid. You can make arguments for and against every player in the world bar maybe Ronaldo. Even against Messi ( one league one team etc etc).
