Who were you going to vote for? We'll keep a side tally for the errors & N/As. So far, we have one missed vote for Thiago Silva (Crumpet's). And one for Giggs <laugh>

And 1 for Lahm (MITO). Neuer is a world class keeper for sure too. He can be the 11th.

Whenever I see Lahm, he's waltzing forth as if he's using the 'force' to open up space ahead of him <laugh>. He is slight physically for a defender and not very pacy, but skill-wise and vision-wise top-drawer sure. Can he hack it in England when it's much more rough and tumble?

Don't rate the German league enough though. (Yet, Schweinsteiger has always impressed me for many years now.)

World class should be those players who make you go wow. Players who regardless of form can still produce whats needed, those who step up to the challenge when others hide away. Players who as a kid you woulf have worshipped.

It would be pretty sad if only a handful of players were world class. Theres far more than that around. Anyone who is one of the best players in the world must be world class. Within that group you have the elite of the elite but that doesnt mean others are not world class.

I agree with the "wow" definition, as that is the subjective definition most posters are using here. But you contradicted yourself below, since players that make one 'go wow' are normally only a handful. Or do you go wow over 20 odd players?

Theres 100s of games a week, every week, every month.

20 odd wows in those games isnt exactly a majority is it?

You tend to find its often the same players making you gow wow many times a season, year after year.

I think you can have a world class season but being world class is a longer road. Needs to be maintained, regardless of whats going on, competition for your place, manager changes, dips in form etc.

On a weekly basis, I would get wowed by these players

    1. Suarez
    2. Messi
    3. *Biased: Coutinho, Sterling, Sturridge
    4. David silva
    5. Iniesta
    6. Bale
    7. Robben
    8. CR7
    9. Ozil
    10. Hazard
    11. Aguero

    That's all, in that order.

Don't really agree Suarez is locked in. If him then why not Ibrahimovich?? He's achieved just as much, probably more this season. Even an argument for Diego Costa if we're looking at one season performance. Btw I don't think any of them 3 deserve to be locked in.

For me, world class players right now apart from Ronaldo, Messi and Iniesta are:

GK - Neuer and Diego Lopez Rodriguez
    FB - Lahm
    FB - Marcelo
    CB - Thiago Silva
    CB - ?????
DM/CM Busquets (controversial I know, he's a complete rat! but cannot deny he's one of the best, if not the best DM in the world - to call him just a DM is an insult tbh, he is much more than that)
    Mid - Arturo Vidal
    Mid - Iniesta
    RWF - Robben
    LWF - Ronaldo
    TRI - Messi

Just from what I've seen of each position.

Looks like these additional 8 are distancing themselves from the pack:

    David Silva
    Thiago Silva
    Hazard
    Aguero
    Bale
    Robben
    Ibrahimovic
    Yaya Toure

    Defence: Thiago Silva, (Lahm), (Neuer)

    Midfield: Toure, David Silva, Iniesta

    Forwards: Bale, Robben, Hazard, Suarez

    Strikers: Messi, CR7, Ibra, Aguero

You don't rate David Silva amongst the best?

  13. I picked the six best on the list but so many missing. Neuer, Lahm and Neymar need to be on there!

I rate him highly but he's 28 years old and I don't feel he's managed to play a full season at a consistently high level in his career so far. He drifts in and out of games & seasons IMO.

He can have quiet games, for sure. But in the majority of them he's terrific in my eyes. With Iniesta, world's best no 10 imo. Weaves circles, picks out pearly passes...

We have to shut him down when they visit, because if he's on song - they're almost unbeatable imo. At Arsenal last weekend he was in good form and had a fantastic first half, yet they sneaked out a draw after containing him in the second half.

So is this World Class or England class, I am confused. <doh>

I respect all opinions of course but hard to say world class but then say they can't hack it in the prem, well they don't have to as they hack it in the World Cup, CL, their own respective league.

So Pele was not world class as he played in Brazil and US, Maradona didn't hack it at Barca! NOT WORLD CLASS!

Ibra has won a league title in all the big leagues bar England, kills it for ligue 1, kills it for Sweden and still getting bashed? I don't get it sometimes.

I know he is a diving ****, but criminal not to have Busquets in there. The best holding mid probably in the world. Also left off Vidal, Pique, GK's ( someone else mentioned that). Dani Alves, etc.

Also didn't Ribery just make the top 3 shortlist and he is not on here?
