I think the way she reacted when Sheffield Utd tried to give a contract to Ched Evans was a disgrace.

    I'd give her the bronze.

The pole vault fascinates me. I'd get up to about 2 feet if I tried it!

I'd be too scared to let go....I'd be like a cat stuck up a tree. :)

Another surprise results in the women's 100m final. Jamaicas dominance in sprinting seems to be coming to an end.

Tori Bowie has been in medal positions in recent games. Wonder if Tori has the stayng power to outlast the Dutch girl over 200m? I'd say up to 140m then advantage to Stephanie Where were our British girls?

I haven't paid much heed to this, every time I have tuned in to see what was happening, nothing was happening? Only one medal so far, what is going wrong?

We had very few medal hopes. Our best athletes have retired or are injured. We usually do well in the Olympics in other events rather than track and field.

Worse position to finish in....theoretically. Better than last I'd have thought.

To be pipped on the line by Victor Moses is no disgrace, to be fair.

Tonight the little Kenyan runner really did perform and I loved the way she held her position from about 500m and never really wavered. Was it Muir who was third going into the final 30 metres She and the Dutch girl really tightened up to allow the American and South African to snatch those medal postions.

But the event of the night has to be the ladies triple jump with a fierce South American battle, 2 cm being the difference. Rojas and the Colombian were a long way ahead of 3rd, who was again streets ahead of 4th. It was rather like the outcome in last season's La Liga.

With regard to track the UK is as good as any European nation but the Europeans en masse are nowhere at the level of the East Africans in the distance or the Jamaicans or Americans in the shorter events. Not sure what we can do to close that gap except more investment. Without it the UK will continue to be bridesmaids at this level. The biggest failing has to be the UK performance in the field events. Why aren't UK athletes performing at the same level as the Poles and Baltic States? We have a big population out there. Is it that Athletics is not seen as really cool? If UK athletics got 10% of the income that the sacred cow gets~, the UK would be up there with the US and the rest.

The American kicked and blocked her. She should have elbowed her as she went passed!

So we have these superb Championships on, yet I reckon 1 in 10 Spanish will be aware they are on. Tonight many will watch the meaningless football match rather the great athletes of the world who are performing across a range of disciplines.

Muir is not Kenyan so she needs to go to a Kenyan training camp to perfect that art!

I know the Western Roll but to someone a tad younger than you, perhaps find footage on YouTube to demonstrate the methodology.

The only other option then was the straddle.

What a fabulous night of athletics yet again/ Bosse just bossed the 800m from 300m out. Fabulous race by the Frenchman and pure class. Held on well in the final straight unlike Bett who yielded teh silver to the fast finishing Pole. As for Langford, he contributed nothing to the race apart from a blistering finish so I do not feel sad that he just missed out on a medal, unlike the Kenyan who set the pace for much of the race.
