Coleman tied up in the last 10 metres. He should have had that one but tensed up. I think Bolt has been carrying an injury which explains why he is not defending his 200m as he might have let himself down badly. Johan Blake... what has happened to him. He has certainly put on the kg in the past year or two.

Yeah, but he's had about 5 years less racing because of the bans.

It's disappointing but he performed best on the night. Coleman should have won but ran out of gas.

Always maintained they should have 2 olympics, one as is now and one where you can fill your body with as many drugs as you like for the entertainment factor.

The crowd is embarrassing booing Gatlin. And I think the problem is the Bbc l by portraying him as some sort of villain. Yes he cheated over a decade ago, but lets give people abuse. I will never boo, as negativity will effect people.

Fair play to the US athletes. They chose not to milk the occasion after the race. Think they have behaved in a dignified manner. So looking at the result, it would appear that going under 9.90 is going to be a rarity now. I think the super fast times we have seen in the past 10 years is due to Bolt (a completely unique and naturally gifted athelete), and others who have gone under 9.80, such as Asafa, Tyson and Johan Blake perhaps being enhanced by something else.

Yeah Bolt has been struggling with injuries on and off since the Olympics. It's a shame it ended as it did, But that's life, and Bolt will remain the ultimate sprinter and sports personality.

If Coleman had won, we could have seen a successor to Bolt. Haviing said this, athletics has been blessed to have had such a wonderfully gifted athlete as Bolt setting super fast times, which then encouraged his challengers to follow suit, but in the case of Tyson and Johan and Asafa their performances have been chemically enhanced. If I can draw parallels with another sport, tennis, we will soon see the dominance of Federer, Nadal, Djoko and Murray come to a natural end, with no one in particularbeing utterly dominant. This is the situation with the 100m. We will have a succession of different champions performing around 9.9 for the gold. It means the Brits on tonight`s showing have to improve by about 0.2 of a second to be in with a chance of a medal.

Christie was even older than Gatlin is now, when he won the Olympic gold in 1992. And he was on the verge of becoming a grandad at the time.

I wouldn't be surprised if Christie was on drugs more times than he was picked up on.

Some athletes peak very early, in their early to mid 20s and then begin to fade. We have seen this with Bolt and Rudesia, and in other sports Wayne Rooney, Leyton Hewitt and Kitova. Others, such as Mo Farah and to some extent, the Swiss tennis player, Warinka have matured much later. Others such as Federer, Cristiano Ronaldo know how to look after themselves as they have matured into their 30s.

I know he was found to have doped after he had retired but I think he was clean, like Carl Lewis but because these guys have enemies, they were found to have substances in their samples at a time when they were at the *** end of their careers.

Reece Prescod, the GB youngster, looked interesting. Made the final...though finished second last. No disgrace in that field. In the semifinal, he started badly and was 6th at 50 m, then stormed through to take second. Said to have grown rather rapidly and to have suffered physically from that. If he settles into his body and improves his start, he could be very promising indeed.

It is unbelievable but it is such a technical race, your position in the blocks, balance, start, rhythm and flow to the finish line. Improve those aspects and he will be running sub 10 on a regular basis. As I said, improve by 0.2 of a second and he will be moving into medal territory. Usain Bolt was 0.36 behind his world record time. That is what 7-9 metres?

The Ethiopians and Kenyans are going to have to gang up to stop Evan Jager from winning the 3000m steeplechase. It will be interesting to see how they achieve their objective. Let's have a 1,2 and 3 for Kenya and Ethiopia in this event at least. Don't want this American to win.

So in the Marathon the top 8 should be dominated by Ugandan, Ethiopians and Kenyans. Who will be the first European? A Portuguese or Spaniard for which he should also get a medal.

It is good to see the medals spread around in the Marathon with the medals going to Kenya, Ethiopia and Botswana. There should be a special medal for Hawkins for being the first European to finish, and to finish ahead of some very good East Africans is no mean achievement. 4th is extremely good.
