Fair point Helen. Maybe I am not as hardline as you when comparing the sins of Gatlin with those of politicians throughout the UK and beyond, Gatlin is an innocent by comparison. Anyhow there are better sprinters in the 100m to bother booing him. I would love Jimmy Vicaut to medal in the final, or even one of the British contingent. At best it will be a third place as I feel the medals with involve two Jamaicans and Coleman of the USA. There is even a Chinese runner who might surprise us all.

The Brits are of West African ancestry. So is the Jamaican!! It was interesting to see the names of the Jamaicans - Forte (not Fonte) and one of the discus throwers. Very Latin names. Mind you, wasn't Jamaica a former Spanish colony. These days everyone is mixed up! Love it!!

I think a mix like that strengthens the DNA of a nation. If we talk about the pedigree dog for a moment. They inherit the weaknesses of that breed and may be lucky to live until they are 12. Mongrels on the other hand do not have these inherited weaknesses, and live much longer. My friend had one that lived until it was 19. So if we apply the theory to people, mixing can greatly aid a nation. Out of Jamaica we have had some wonderful world class sports persons. Besides Bolt we have had John Barnes, Michael Holding, Courtney Walsh, Shelley-Ann Fraser, Merlene Ottey. This coming week we shall see the Jamaicans and US athletes battle it out for dominance in the events up to 400m before East Africa and South Africa takes its turn from 800m upwards.

Out of the 24 starters for the 10000m all except 4 were from East Africa or had links to East Africa, like Mo Farah. I love their dominance as they are such graceful runners Tonight the prey was Farah surrounded by the hungry lions of Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia. It was quite a spectacle to see what was going on and the thinking. Had the Kenyans or Ethiopians or Ugandans thought about themselves, could they have pushed on, and taken Farah to the very limit? They will be happy he is retiring from the track.

Didn't realise that there would be re-allocation ceremonies after drug cheats were caught. Lovely to see Jo Pavey getting her deserved medal <applause>

Blimey. I think that's the first time I've ever seen Bolt beaten. He's still through to the final though and I still think he's the quickest once he gets into his stride.

He was looking across at his rival...pretty sure he could have won if he really tried.

From an objective point of view, it would be wonderful if the Chinese runner could win the 100m. Or Jimmy Vicaut, but it won't happen. Prediction: Bolt, Coleman, and a surprise.

Ayana!! That is the way to win a race. Can we have a Kenyan destroy the rest of the field in the men's 1500m a la Kip Keino?

He was probably fired up. Shows Bolt is right to retire....he could still win lots of races, but why wait until the inevitable slide. Thanks, Usain.
