Wow, I nearly read your comment as "did you know there is a hotel in Norwich and Reading!!!" In all seriousness, you know when Travel Inn built that place next to Tesco on the ring road, they had real planning problems because of the drainage. And when it rains hard, wow it floods big time down that road! So the theory is there is a shortage of Hotel rooms in Watford.
It does flood! It's awful! And hotel rooms are very hard to come by in Watford, last week they were impossible to get coz all the hotels were full for some conference or other..not sure what that was all about...
I don't know much about hotel rooms in Watford, as I live just down the road and haven't fallen out my missus (yet)! Although I do remember when I ran part of Porcelanosa I had to sort out rooms for the Spanish, and that wasn't easy as they smoked ....... all of the time.
Yes its a small very understated kind of a place! The things that happen in that white building, the locals can only guess at.
ohhh i am curious now!! i thought it had something to do with plates! i thought maybe it was a porceline wholesalers or something.
Tiles, bathrooms, kitchens etc. The truth is they don't sell much. If you look at the lorries out the back, the warehouse is ginormous, but when they were doing well it was a third full. Now its much less. The showroom is lovely and clean, there are quite a few lackys always sweeping (and you may think I'm joking). And then when they released a new range of showers ..... well they needed a young lady or two didn't they? The next morning it was clear someone had been doing some overtime!
oh my! lol...how come it's still going then? If they don't make any money, how come they haven't closed it! And..did those extra curricular people get the sack?
They haven't closed it because its one of their dozen flagship stores in this country. Its called pride. I could guess at how much they're losing now, but I only know 1 survivor from my time there which ended about 3 years ago. It was good experience for me, all part of life's rich tapestry.
Oh right. Makes wonky sense i suppose. Pride can get in the way of common sense though a lot of the time. i'm sure you're better off without it...
Why build a medical centre.....when there is a hospital 1 minute down the road!!!! This all seems very expensive....
The hospital doesn't have a medical centre, though I believe there is one not far from the ground. I'm not sure why he'd want to have one though, strange.
Can anyone tell me which 'corner of the ground' he means for the hotel? I would think it has to be the Red Lion corner, no? A while back I asked on the old 606, to no response, how far they've got with the wrap-around at the Rookery end? Are the flats occupied? And the SW corner is still a shell, I presume? I'm curious to know, having not been to the ground since Oct 2009 because of illness. Kinda home-sick, guys!
Hey GG, i cant be too much help as i never venture down to that end, however i can say that the SW corner is simply a concrete shell. The wrap around has been built i think but again is just a shell. Thats all i cansay im affraid.
GG its barely changed in the last couple of years. You haven't missed anything yet. If I go that way soon I'll take some pics for you
