I was convinced that the words were related to Christmas so got lucky with a guess that gave me a huge clue, took me a while though as no other word would fit.

I'll tell you the word later.

First word hires.
The second word I used the word exits, thinking the kids would be excited, then realised I'd missed a C and used the S twice, then fixed, again a mistake as I'd used the E again.

Yes I had a nightmare as I was a bit hungover.
