Morning all from the Whitty household where a very rare thing happened with 2 eagles. Having both picked the same starting word from the news both guessed correctly 2nd guess. Mrs W was very excited. :emoticon-0136-giggl

A par 4 to end the week.

Took an age to come up with something after word two. Then found two and chose the wrong one.

Another cracking second guess which left me with a 50/50, one seemingly much more likely. Luckily it went green for a 3

With the weather being as it is and the wife away, I decided to have a tinker with the system I knocked up a while ago and I think I have perfected it. This week I am going to use it every day and see how it goes. I'm not sure whether to use the same starting word or a randomty selected one but I think to test it I should use a random word, automatically selected. One thing I can guarantee is that it won't help me to win but hopefully get a respectable score

It will be interesting to see how your system does.
There are Wordle cheat websites that if you tell it which letters you have in the correct position ( greens) which letters are correct but in the wrong position ( yellows ) and which letters are wrong - ie not in the word, it tells you what options there are left. I submitted my result for today earlier this morning - got a 5 - but I’ve just tried it using today’s puzzle and after my 3rd guess it told me that based on what I had entered so far there were 3 possibilities left. So worst case scenario is that I would have avoided a fail. All well and good but it’s not in the spirit of the game is it? And let’s face it if I hadn’t had a fail last week I wouldn’t have ended up in the 30’s Club with just the pirate barmaid and a pack of cards for entertainment!

You are right Norman. There are cheat sites, too many, including one that actually tells you the anwer. What is the point? I haven't seen the one that tells you what options are left though. Where did you find that; that's what my system will do. At some point though it won't work because it eliminates all words used before

My sole reason for doing it is I use MS Access a lot so it just gave me something to do

Using today's puzzle, after my first guess I was left with 27 options. So it was pot luck that my second guess was virtually there

I just put Wordle Cheat into Google and it threw up a few to choose from. It was the top one that I used

Ah yes. Hadn't seen that one. I think, if you use the Strict Search, that is basically what I built. But I believe that includes a lot of words that aren't in the dictionary used for the puzzles so you end up with a lot more words to choose from. I start with the official Wordle dictionary for the puzzles, not the full dictionary. The already used words are then removed before checking the guesses. I could just import the official list of unused words. In fact I will do that tomorrow to verify my file of unused words. If you have MS Access I could send you a copy of my system if you are interested

Was struggling with only 1 green and 1 yellow from first two guesses. Bit of a wasted 3rd guess but somehow pot luck and ended with a par 4.
