Our GP friend has advised Sue not to visit her Mum because of Sue’s asthma and also because her Mum at this state would he extremely contagious ...

We had a video call - she looked very poorly .....

Oh dear Taff, that is absolutely awful news.
I guess you were expecting that advice, which makes sense, but, pragmatism doesn't come into it when its your Mother involved.
Difficult to know what to say Taff, perhaps under the current regs you may NOT be able to do a bedside visit.
