A 2/2 was called a Sportsman's Degree (when I was in Cardiff Uni) because most of the Rugby guys, Soccer guys etc ended up with a 2/2 - generally, the guys played & worked hard in equal measure, rather than "swotted" all the time.

I had a Joint Honours in Law & Accountancy, classification 2/2 <cheers> (I had played Soccer for the First XI, Rugby for the Second XV & Cricket for the Second XI)
