Off to Penarth around 9.30 - the boss wants to go to a clothes shop there This evening I may sort through my late Dad’s football programmes - they date from the mid 1940s. There is the one for the Manchester United v Manchester City derby on 7 April 1948 (that was my Mum’s 16th birthday!) I should say that there are at least 100 programmes! As well as the above, the pre-1955 include (not a full list) Dec. 1944 Man City v Blackpool Feb. 1945 Bury v Manchester United Nov. 1945 Bolton v Sunderland Mar. 1946 Everton v Newcastle Oct. 1946 Arsenal v Brentford Oct. 1946 Liverpool v Charlton Dec. 1946 Arsenal v Wolves Apr. 1947 Man Und v Wolves Apr. 1947 Barnsley v Manchester City Apr. 1947 Burnley v Liverpool Apr. 1947 Man City v Glasgow Rangers Aug. 1947 Bournemouth v Swansea Aug. 1947 Aston Villa v Man City (also includes team news v Sunderland 2 days later) Sep 1947 Birmingham v Newcastle Sep 1947 Preston v Arsenal May 1947 Nottm. Forest v Swansea Jan. 1948 Man City v Aston Villa Aug. 1948 Swansea v Watford Sep. 1948 Swansea v Crystal Palace Sep. 1948 Bury v Fulham Feb. 1949 Birmingham v Everton Aug. 1949 Cardiff v Swansea Sep. 1949 Swansea v Sheffield United Aug. 1951 Swansea v Notts County (Two of these) May 1951 Swansea v Eindhoven Nov. 1951 Aston Villa v Middlesbrough May 1952 Arsenal v Newcastle (FA Cup Final Tie) Oct. 1953 Wales v England
Might be worth something Taff, lots of football memorabilia fairs about Have fun Exterminate - Exacerbate
I was offered £470 for that lot (excluding the Manchester Derby in 1948) - £700 if I threw in all my 1966 memorabilia: (My father and I attended the 1966 World Cup Final - I was 8 years old at the time.) I have our two World Cup Final tickets, and in addition I have the following: A) embossed World Cup Willie badge B) World Cup Willie postcard autographed by Nobby Stiles C) England World Cup 1966 rosette D) World Cup Souvenir Programme E) Evening Standard World Cup Souvenir Supplement F) letter from The Football Association World Cup Organisation Committee to my Mother - dated 25 July 1966 - confirming that we would have 2 World Cup Final tickets (plus the receipt for the 2 tickets) G) World Championship England 1966 tie (unused) £230 for that lot Unsurprisingly, I turned it down. An auction house said I could possibly get £1,000 for the above programmes alone. Think I’m going to keep them - just sort out and put in chronological order
Apologies Taff, this was a very restrictive and boring theme, any combination lE X A from here on in, if you wish
Hi Nick - just back with a much lighter pocket, but plenty of brownie points .... til my next mistake ..... As they say, behind every angry woman is a guy who has absolutely no idea what he’s done wrong...... Exactitude - Inexact
