Spent 3 weeks offshore Aberporth in early 1963 on a guided missile destroyer...there was a missile firing range in Cardingan Bay. Nobody went ashore!!! Only the boat to collect mail and fresh veg etc. Cold War and all that nonsense. I kid you not.

Apparently/allegedly.....

JPR, Gareth and I think Gerald were invited over to France (when in their 40s) to play in a testimonial match for a former French international (can’t recall who it was).

When they walked into the dressing room, JPR looked around at their teammates - approached Ken Kennedy and said, pointing at others, ‘I can understand why he is here, and him and him, but what the eff are you doing here......?’

Apparently, you could have heard a pin drop....

Kennedy of course was an Ireland & Lions Test player......

JPR’S ego knows no bounds...... allegedly
