I suppose we couldn’t legislate for Shawcross being injured at the same time that Zouma was ineligible to play, although quite why in that case we didn’t start with Bruno when we could bring him on later, I’m not quite sure. If you’ve got faith in your defence training team, then why not try some of the youngsters that you pay to be defenders, and use your midfielders higher up the pitch where they are better placed and will hopefully have more of an impact? Sadly, I did not make the Southhampton game, so I am reliant on BBC local radio and Match Of The Day, which do not always seem to have been at the same match.
