Shattered my wrist December 2011 - fell while jogging. The bone was in 7 pieces.
Morriston operated on it the following day - had to have it done properly 15 days later in Llandough ....
The surgeon in Morriston, who was scheduled to do it, entered the operating theatre (wearing a suit!) over an hour into the operation and apologised to the junior doctor for being late - he didn’t expect to see me wide awake - I’d opted for a nerve block.
The consultant in Cardiff said that the operation in Morriston was a mess and looked like it had been done by an unassisted junior ... which it had been. They’d inserted the wrong sized plate, it was not properly positioned and was not properly screwed down. He had to remove everything and start again from scratch ....
