I've added the one post hit, can someone confirm the other (and which post)? Or I wait until it's on LFC TV Next, you'll be asking me to add minutes and whether it was a left/right foot or header!
I know it has been said before. Hitting the woodwork a record number of times when it would have been easier to score is not a sign that we are unlucky - that is we are creating loads of chances but just poor luck is the cause. When an archer hits the edge all the time instead of hitting the centre do we say he is unlucky? The more likely reason s that our strike force isnot good enough and that we need more goal scorers. The manager has recognised that and did try to bring some in in summer. Yes, interesting exercise counting the woodwork hits but the more we hit the woodwork the more proof that we need the goal scoring power to improve not that we are damned unlucky...
I said something similar when we was only two or three months into last season when we kept coming up against keepers that were picking up the MOTM award, surely there was another reason for it rather than opposition keepers being 'more up for a game against Liverpool'? IMO, it was down to our finishing. If a shot is taken effectively then a keeper can can very little about it going in, so IMO, our efforts must have been giving the keepers the chance the be seen in good light. In other words, our finishing was not up to scratch. As you have rightly said, you can't blame luck when it happens so frequently. Wasn't it 46 woodworks or something last season? Okay, we are talking inches from going in but the player taking the shot does not have a six inch gap to score in most of the time, it is usually a two to three FOOT gap depending on distance! Our finishing is not good enough, end of!
I agree, it's poor finishing. This is just a bit of fun; it's either this or bash head against wall....
And the team who have hit the woodwork most so far is!... Everton. Easier to take when you're second in the league
