Bowie - Ziggy (Original Acoustic Demo)
Another one from Bowie The Man Who Sold The World
Produced by Bowie. A bit dubious this one as there are a fair few instruments on it.
I came across this bootleg by The Clash a couple of years back. Bankrobber (Acoustic) White Man (Acoustic) Full album was on You Tube at one time. Its from a busking session they did at a pub in Gateshead back in 85. I`ve a bit of a thing for these kind of singer/songwriter things - often one hit wonders as well - who have a song which is often a fairly simple, acoustic, folk-ish kind of tune which gets some baroque orchestrated big sound in a studio with producers adding scores, backing singers, percussion etc - I think its because you can often drift off into only listening to the "original" bones of the song, or you can listen to all the stuff which has been added, either of which seem to work both independently and together....if that makes sense
Yes that does make sense. If you think of the most influential musicians or bands at the core there is always some singer songwriter/s banging away on the guitar. They're not even necessarily great musicians either. Dylan influence on 60's music was almost universal, The Velvets led to the glam stuff and the American New wave. Neil Young and all the 90's grunge stuff. We should do an influences thread Anyway here's one that certainly deals with the "bones". I think this guy is an incredible guitarist. Led Zep ripped of their whole acoustic sound off of this guy.
He had a wee boy who was pretty good too. Unfortunately they both jagged the smack and died too young.
this is one of my favourite Oasis tracks. 'Sad Song' from a time long ago when Oasis were still young and bloody good should have been left on Definitely Maybe CD.
