No need for that, is there?

I didn't say he bought the club out of the kindness of his heart. I listed a variety of reasons that might have motivated him. I don't believe money is one of them.

Wake up and smell the coffee

Money makes the world go around and people are mostly motivated by money

The tory boys had dollar signs in their eyes when uncle Ellis was trying to sell the club and I don't know how you can't see it

Every decision that they made was motivated by money, from getting the seats changed free to not extending maja's contract

    Wake up kidda

Like I said, I know, or have met, several people that own or are on the boards of clubs at a similar level to Donald's old club. For none of them, the motivation isn't money. It's often simply the thrill of owning or running a football club. Some of them pour money into a black hole, in the knowledge they'll never get it back. When Sunderland became available, I believe Donald saw the opportunity to do the same thing on a massive scale. I'm not saying he's doing a good job, just that his motivation is unlikely to be money.

Your calling norton cat a mug for posting his feelings of why Donald may of bought the club based on the fact he owned Eastleigh and pumped money in.
Yet you state your reasons as fact purely on your own assumptions :)

I'm extremely sorry if the word mug offended you two

All I'm saying is that it's naive to think that salmon trousers pumped his money into the club without any thought about the profit he could make

Just like Norton I've met these people and they said to me and I quote 'you will be able to wallpaper the black cats bar with 20 quid notes once fpp buy the club'

I've seen the gleam in their eyes when they've been telling me about how much money they can make and it sent a shiver down my spine

I've got experience of meeting these people so my opinion is just as valid. I take back the mug comment it was uncalled for

    Not offended at all mate.
You never called it me :D

I said in another thread of course they want to make money as they are business men, i just dont think thats the whole reason for Donald.
    It's too risky a business.
    But i could be wrong.

Didn't know you had a conversation with them.

You don't make money running a club unless you're in the Premier League and even then you have to be extremely lucky. In League 1 you might keep the club ticking over but there are better ways of making money than football (unless you're a footballer or an agent). I don't think its naive to think money isn't the motivation at all. I doubt Donald made any money from Eastleigh, other than perhaps through selling it, and I don't believe he thought he would make quick money on SAFC. He will know that he needs to get the club moving in the right direction before he can even think about making money.

It dosnt matter what league you are in, if you manage to obtain a club by putting next to none of your own money up, and use the clubs own money to purchase it, even if you sell it for a rock bottom price you will make money on your initial investment. Problem is donald, which seens to be the case now, is wanting a ludicrous amount for it now which people rightly are refusing to entertain.
