Is Terry kitted out and available to lift the cup if you win?

Another big game ruined by a ref. No pen for Chelsea when it was one, goal for Brum ruled out for offside when it wasn't, Goal from FK given to Brum without signal from the ref. OK the first two may have been the hazard of the game but that last one was undeniably a ref bad/wrong/against the rules decision. She then made a huge show of organising the following FK which reeks of guilt.

Actually she got the rules right:

"The whistle is NOT needed to:
• stop play for:
– a goal kick, corner kick or throw-in
– a goal
• restart play from:
– a free kick, goal kick, corner kick, throw-in
A whistle which is used too frequently unnecessarily will have less impact when
it is needed. When a discretionary whistle is needed to start play, the referee
should clearly announce to the players that the restart may not occur until after
that signal."

Refs usually get this wrong though

With penalties looming Sky stop showing the game and move off to today's play off. Soulless.

And there he goes again! Surprised you didn't say the ref doesn't have to be sure if it's a free kick to start with to actually award it!

Why do you criticise me for quoting the rules, as opposed to the posters who claim non-existent errors by officials. I was not being anti-Chelsea - just happened to be watching the match and was glad a ref actually allowed a quickly taken kick rather than wrongly penalising the side who had been offended against.

Sorry mate, it's just fun!
The thing was though, that took far too long for it to be called a quick free kick so the referee should've told both teams to wait for her whistle.

Certainly refs don't usually allow that - but I've always thought you should be allowed to take it any time, unless the ref wants to give someone a card.

All in all mate I thought the ref had a stinker, missing the Chelsea penalty, denying the clearly legal Birmingham goal and I still reckon she cocked up big time with that free kick. THREE game changing mistakes (in my opinion) in one game is clearly unacceptable.
