Fair points mate but I'm not saying that all the blame lies with the victims, just that it's not a black & white situation.

There's a hysteria building up and I'd guess a fair few 'victims' have decided they've been spiked in the same way we used to claim we'd 'had a bad pint' ....

    ... strangely always the 8th or 9th <laugh>

This climate of fear that's building is totally out of proportion and I really don't believe some of them claims, sorry but I was working in that realm for years and Thursday night was always one of the worst, Student Night!

Part of this movement is the following,

"Hannah Thomson, a former student from Glasgow, created a petition to make it a legal requirement for nightclubs to thoroughly search guests on entry to “prevent harmful weapons and other items entering the establishment”."

It's a reasonable guess that some of the people who've signed the petition are the same people who've refused to wear masks because it's 'not cool' and have previously kicked off if doormen have asked to look in their handbags, never mind being 'thoroughly searched'. Also, these glass covers were actually piloted in Nottingham and no-one would use them ... not a cool look apparently.

As I've said I think the situation is being bandwagonned to a degree ....

... a few dozen cases of zero recollection' in fresher's week never used to big news until this 'Safety for Women' movement.

Unpopular views, I know ... but honest.

That would be a ****ing great comment if rape began with the invention of the smart phone and all the poor girls who are subjected to assault and worse were absolutely leathered and lying around comatose with their legs open and a tattoo on the head saying "rape me."

But rape isn't a modern problem. It happened in Greece, In Egypt, it happened in Rome.

And a lot of women are doing nothing more than walking home alone the short distance from a to b when they're set upon. Many of them sober. And frankly sober or drunk it doesn't ****ing matter. If you encounter a bigger animal with a sadistic hunger you are **** out of luck.

It's certainly a societal problem and there are no easy fixes. Animals from penguins to chimps to humans rape each other. Smartphone and social media are the pits but these problems existed prior to them. As far as I know, animals arent getting pissed in the Arctic or the jungle.

According the statistics from organisations, like 'rape crisis' ...
    • Approximately 90% of those who are raped know the perpetrator prior to the offence
The instances of woman being grabbed off the street are rare.

I just think this increasing 'street problem' is a reflection of the lax world we're living in. I ended up walking through Cheltenham, approaching midnight, after getting the coach back from Gillingham. Loads of the girls were drunk and could've passed for porno stars which was great viewing as a passer by.

Now of course they should be able to go out like that, in Cheltenham on a Saturday night, without any fear of being attacked ...

... just as I should be able to do the same in Newcastle wearing my Sunderland shirt.

I could but I have a duty of personal care not to work my ticket knowing not everyone is nice.

Shame but we're not living in lovey-dovey land.

I assure you no one is going to try rape you in Newcastle for wearing a sunderland shirt. I reckon you could walk naked through the Bigg market windmilling to your heart's, and cock and balls', content.

Where did I say rape didn't exist before the invention of the smartphone?

Rape has existed since the advent of the penis and more specifically since the definition of legal consent by civilised society (This was not universally defined at the same time all over the world however so behaviours that would be illegal/abhorrent in some parts of the world would have been totally "acceptable" elsewhere). Rape by definition doesn't exist in the animal world because there isn't such a thing as consent. In the past I have seen three male ducks raping a female duck but it never got to court and the female duck didn't even report the crime. Duck life is hard at times.

My response was merely pointing out that it is my belief that things will not improve whilst our young folk are being moulded from an early age by the thing they hold most frequently in their hands. Something that no one had 20 plus years ago during my school days and something that can bring extreme content at the touch of a button to the most impressionable young minds in our society. How can we say this wont have an effect on future behaviours and attitudes in many areas of real life? Parents have little control over their children's access to this material, either because they don't have the awareness of how to control it of simply no will to do so. These kids can see abuse of all kinds on their phones, not only abuse of women but also horrendous acts of barbarity, the internet is a cesspit of horrible stuff. Until we get a grip of this we wont ever be able to turn that corner and eradicate these attitudes in people. We need to protect these impressionable minds first and foremost as we are entrusting the future to them in the long run.

The adults currently perpetuating these crimes should be locked up for a long time and even anyone caught with the paraphernalia to carry out these crimes tried as if they were successful and jailed indefinitely. These people should have no place in any society.

I feel that in a society where we highlight and scrutinise poor behaviours and attitudes whilst holding our young folk up as bastions of virtue it is weird that some of these young folk have such little respect for the opposite sex that crimes like those currently in the spotlight are only increasing in number and severity. We cannot blame the ancient Egyptians for this even though it existed in ancient Egypt. This is a "now" problem and the motivations for the problem lie solely with the perpetrators and the way they view women as something they can use to satisfy the perverted thoughts and feelings they have. Where this perverted view comes from may in some way be linked to their access to the imagery they can download whenever and wherever they may be. Make no mistake - these people are perverse in the way they think and behave.

I took it from the following. I likely misunderstood.

"Wont stop/improve until there are some serious kerbs on the handheld porn machine that kids everywhere have and use to shape their attitudes and behaviours towards women."

Sadly it's not cool to think that way and certainly not to say it.

Women have deliberately thrown away some of the biggest advantages they had by accepting and exaggerating the whole equality/Girl Power/ladette culture. Being slutty and mouthy is fine as long as you accept that for every action there's an equal and possibly unpleasant reaction ...

... Sir Isaac Newton may not have been cool but I doubt he was every botty raped on his way home from the club.

You should be ashamed of yourself for not stepping in to assist the female duck.

so the answer is to subject young people going into nightclubs to a 'thorough' search before allowing them in? How long before the first report of sexual assault by the staff, because if you're searching for a small and easily concealable item, its going to be in a very intimate place to get past a check. Ask any prison officer for a list of the most popular places that cons use to try to smuggle stuff into the nick.

since the advent of these 'reality tv' programmes, i have noticed on them that the sluttier and dirtier a girl tends to act, gets her more media time...i have seen young lasses try to get on ANY television and usually they act like [email protected] as it gets more publicity (one was actually a relation, i wont mention names or programme).

i also think people like jordan and other media whores do nothing to help women, jordans defenders still insist she is a succesful business woman and a loving mother...i can vividly remember most of the newspaper fotos of her rolling out of some night club at silly o'clock in the morning with the kid(s) at home, she made a sex tape as it was 'trendy' and others had gained a lot of publicity and the very fact that she gets that publicity is one reason many young lasses act the same...women in the public eye need to start showing a better way of acting, that they can still have a damn good night out without having to get [email protected] and act like sluts.

men in the public eye need to start teaching the kids that you treat women with respect, lose all this 'jonny the lad' type essex boy bollox...again, you can still have good times without too much drink or 'having to shag summit' to think you did have a good night.

intimate searches will not last long and i doubt they would find anything anyhow unless they got REALLY intimate then when does the first instance of sexual assault begin?

i don't want women to feel unsafe, hell i don't want anyone to feel unsafe...no one should feel like that, i have crossed roads or slowed right down, if there was no choice i have walked half way across a road to avoid getting too close to females and if that is what it takes then that is what everyone should do...but it will take a concentrated effort from men AND women to make a difference, and no, no one deserves to be raped or abused or made to feel scared or vulnerable but we all need to work together on this.

News on radio says police arrested two on suspicion of spiking drinks, didn't hear whereabouts it was.

Those male ducks looked a bit mean and moody. Didn't want to run the risk they would start on me instead.

Why not return the spiking and let him (or her) get multiple penetrations without lube.

Women don't need to work on anything. Men need to work on controlling themselves and to stop abusing women.

I don't care if a woman is wearing a skimpy outfit and passes out in the street after drinking 50 vodkas. No man has ever got the right to go and abuse them in any situation. The focus should be 100% on the beasts that prey on women.

It's no wonder women who are victims have second thoughts about coming forward when they're faced with implications that they could be doing more and maybe it was a little bit of their own fault for their behaviours/not protecting themselves properly. They don't need to protect themselves. Men need to stop being rapists.

And that's part of the problem, you should care ...

... too many people know all of their rights but none of their responsibilities.

You have just taken that out of context.

In the bit you chose to highlight, I would care about the woman's welfare and call for an ambulance.

It was you that said it and it's totally inappropriate.

Sadly, since the dawn of time, everyone has needed to protect themselves ...

    ... it's not always everyone else's fault.

Saying the focus should be 100% on men ignores the fact that women have responsibilities just like everyone else.

And saying that women don't need to protect themselves is fantasy, we're all at risk in some way.

Knowing that rapists exists means that women have some responsibility to consider their actions.
