How good will they be this season? Spent a lot of money and there are some talented players there but will the Premier League be a step too far for them? Neves and Jota look good players but will they be enough? Read somewhere that they are aiming to get into Europe in their first season which would be a big ask. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44922630 My prediction is that the'll fall short of Europe and end up safe mid table.
The bookies seem to have them finishing about 8th. Money and agents on their side would suggest it's possible. They're definitely one to keep an eye on.
They've made some very good signings since last year and they'll do well to hang onto the likes of Neves if he has a good season and that'll be the trick really, can they hang onto players that show they can step up when the big clubs come calling.
they will do an Ipswich from the early 2000s...either come just outside CL places or get relegated... Or they will come mid table... or just avoid relegation... or do a Leicester and win the title... or come in the top 4 you heard it here first
Nobody can hang onto their top players at the moment, though. They're in a position where they can keep most of them, lose a couple for big money and replace them with ambitious prospects. It's a tricky balance, but they've got some powerful agents on their side and some financial backing, so they could pull it off.
Think they are already better than most of the Prem outside the top 6. If they can start well then would expect them to finish 7th or 8th, really not much difference between most of the teams outside the top 6 (ie they are all ****) so if they can keep the feel good factor they seem to have then I see no reason why they can't be challenging "best of the rest"
Something very dodgy about it all. Moutinho for £5m? Bloke has to be worth at least three times that.
yeah, mentioned in the transfer thread 5m is a bargain. Well known Portuguese internation of many years leavings top french club for 5m. When the likes of ward go for 12.5 even ****ing that Fat aussie left back who went to Bournemouth went for like 7m.
You can see the appeal for him though. Monaco has nothing on Dudley or wherever these ****s live. He’ll probably be stranded in a penthouse in The Mailbox unable to understand anyone.
I reckon they will finish around 12th this season before challenging the top 6 the year after that. Then it will go utterly tits up a year or so after that, and I'll laugh.
Yeah I’d go along with that. Fancy all three promoted sides to stay up but Cardiff most at risk. Stoke are buying well so you can look forward to their return.
If he stays fit, Helder Costa will be a ****ing problem for defenders this season, he's the one I'm most keen to watch. Can see Portug... I mean Wolves causing some problems. Think top 10, maybe even top 8.
Watford's time may be up next season, they were treading water in the second half of last season... Wolves will get top ten IMO, can't say which position though.
