I must say that the often mooted "Cup Fever" was definitely present in Chez Bovril last night. The team selection got my dander up right away as it was abundantly clear that Ralph really fancies our chances, and why not? As our manager, he's beaten every team still in the draw with the exception of Man Utd. As we all know how this squad responds to teams who put nine past us, I was hoping to draw them to guarantee vengeance and a semi-final berth but I'll settle for the next softest option. We could well be two wins away from European football again, not to mention an actual shot at an actual trophy. Cap doffed to Armstrong's immense shift last night. He's our very own Irn Stu.
I thought Redders had his best game for a while, lots of energy, progressive, holding the ball up Bertie was great going forward and then when Traore came on stifled him completely. They brought 3 really good subs on and yet we got better. Bodes well for Sunday Forsters confidence is back Tella new super-sub Stuart Armstrong Only criticism is that Oriel and JWP can’t leave all the transition to attack to Stu, they were very conservative last night
I think Wolves did a really good job of closing down our options as soon as we got possession in their half, which I think accounted for that slow transition. KWP was often guilty of the same hesitancy. Thing is, our passing isn't quite quick or precise enough to play through well drilled sides that pack the midfield, so it does need someone willing to run at defences, which Armstrong was always happy to do.
A lot of very good analysis and observations on here lads. We definitely looked back to our early season form last eve with virtually all & fit first team players. Providing the main, stay fit, we have a great chance of advancing in the FAC & moving back up the league.
Reading a Wolves forum and there's a lot of very angry and bemused Wolves fans this morning. They can't understand the team selection at all. In their shows I'd be feeling the same.
