I really don't know what job Curbishley think he's going to land. Keeping Wolves up is a very achievable task. Im starting to think he's delusional and is waiting for Sir Alex to retire.

I actually think Bruce would do OK at Wolves - they are of a similar stature to Wigan (OK a bigger club but similar in financial terms) and can't go and spend silly money and Wigan were always OK when he was there

I think it was a mistake sacking McCarthy, I know the WBA game was a real bad result, butt I still feel it was an overreaction to sack the manager. If I was the Wolve's chairman I would have done everything I could to get McDermot from Reading, but he's just signed a long term contract, so there not going to get him now.

A guy who I reckon would join them is Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. I know some may laugh at that but he's performing miracles with Molde in the Norwegian league, and he's a big name, who the Wolves players would instantly respect, and want to play for

Think he will be Man U manager one day but doing his apprenticeship in Norway and like you say doing a good job.

I doubt he would be offered the Man Utd job without proving himself with a smaller club in one of the top leagues in Europe first. SAF said he wants to carry on for another 3 years, so I can't see the Man Utd post coming up for a while yet, so the Wolves job would be a nice starter for him. I'm sure he would do a great job there to:biggrin:

Like I said he is doing his apprenticeship in Norway, but think in time Man U will take a punt. Of course when SAF does retire, Keano and Brucie are waiting in the shadows.

Curbishley actually has a pretty good record in all of the clubs he's managed (granted, there aren't many), so I think he can wait out for a slightly better job.

In normal circumstances, I'd say that the job would be good for him, but I have heard that Wolves only want to hire a manager until the end of the season (or want the clause to sack the manager if they get relegated) which is just a joke. I wouldn't expect Curbishley or anyone to lower themselves to that level just to manage bloody Wolves.

PS: Which miserable bastard removed this from the Sunderland forum? Everyone was actually getting along, for once.

I cannot see OGS turning down any PL position, but were all entitled to our different opinions!

Bruce and Keane have both failed with Sunderland, so there is no way either would be considered for the Man Utd job, even if they were former players. If SAF retired at the end of the season, the only former player, I can see being considered is Laurent Blanc, I reckon he'd leave France after the Euro's if he was offered the Man Utd job

Although for obvious reasons he is not my favourite footballing personality, I honestly think that Lee Clarke deserves a shot at a higher level. In my opinion, his treatment from Huddersfield was nothing short of a disgrace because his record there was exceptional..
For the reasons above, I think he could do a decent job at Wolves...

Man Utd need to be really careful imo. Sir Alex is the absolute rock which has brought out winning performances even when the starting 11's have been lagging. I think he is a key factor in why you guys have been able to grind out results when required.

He's probably the best manager in the world, and needs a replacement as close to him as possible, so it would have to be someone like Mourinho. Taking a punt on anyone other than one of the top proven managers in the world could backfire spectacularly.

I agree there. If people like Curbishley and Bruce are in with a shout, then Clarke should be as well.

Agreed, we wouldn't be anywere near City this season without SAF, our squad is as bad as it's been for years, and that's because we don't have the financial power of City or Chelsea:biggrin:
